Chapter 8: Unforeseen Problems

The brakes screeched as Floyd pulled up. Alice and I ran up to the door, it opened to reveal Floyd's grin. His smile faded as he realized one key piece of information. "Where's Jennifer," he asked. I glared at him and shoved him aside and started jogging to the gun room, I broke into a run at the stairs. I stripped my guns off and grabbed my tomahawk and my sawed off, and put them on my belt along with a couple grenades. I kept my knives and pythons on me, and fitted my intervention in. I grabbed a Katna Sword and hung the strap of the sheath over my shoulder. Apparently Alice had filled Floyd in, because when I came downstairs he stopped me, "You can't do this on your own," he said.

"I'd like and see you try to stop me", I replied, moving my hand towards one of my daggers.

"I'm not trying to stop you, just let us help you," I realized that he already had his weapons on him. Alice came up from behind me and tossed him a Katana. She tossed her hair around in an arc.

"Let's do this," her previous feeling of regret seemed to be humbled by her current mission. I looked at them and realized that I was glad to have them as friends. I drew my Katana and expertly twirled it between my fingers before plunging it into the ground.

"This'll be fun," I grinned, "for Jennifer". I pulled my whistle and blew hard, exchanging a look with Floyd. He did the same and a minute later we had jumped up on our horses.

"How come I don't get one," Alice complained.

"Because then you wouldn't get to wrap your arms around Floyd's waist," she blushed. "Here are the first," I cast a sideways look at them before raising my blade and practicing my golf swing. As we approached the undead hoards got thicker, until it reached a point of impassableness. I drew one of my pythons and dismounted. I signaled the others to do the same. I stalked over to a windowsill where I proceeded to climb up onto the roof.I waited patiently for them to get up here. "Dude, when this is done, remind me to take you to the gym," I teased.

"Whatevea man," he said.

"I didn't know you started rapping," I commented. He gave me a glare that signaled that I should shut up. We proceeded to jump over the rooftops. Floyd smiled as I slipped of the edge and caught the drain pipe.

"Who needed to go to the gym again," he smirked as I hauled myself onto the roof edge.

"So you would stand by and laugh, as the man who saved your life falls to his death," I coldly asked.

"Nah, you would have been fine," he retorted, "only a broken leg or two".

"And you would have carried me back?"

"That," he corrected, "would have been your own problem," he gave me a smile to let me know that he was kidding, "and excuse me, but when exactly did you save my life?"

"Uhh," I stuttered, "Well I was planning on doing it soon, anyways".

"I would prefer that you didn't get the chance!" A loud moan proceeded his statement.

"Damn," I said, decapatiting our undead pursuer, "Now they're all going to make a beeline for this area. we need to find Jennifer, and get the hell out of here".

"Lucky us," Alice laughed, in her usual haughty 'I don't care' tone, indicating a rooftop not so far away. On it Jennifer, and a couple other of those tall, pale skinned, skinny hillbillys, taking turns blowing the heads of Zombies (It's not that hard when your using a shotgun). I pulled out my Intervention and adjusted the sights. Jennifer suddenly got caught off guard, and it pulled her closer t it's gaping jaw, with a crazed look. I lightly squeezed the trigger, and the bullet sped to cover the distance. The shocked look on her face was priceless, as she quickly scanned the area for her assister. Her surprised look instantly turned into one of joy as she saw me. I grinned back, while swinging my Sniper Rifle back onto my back. My smile faded as I observed the massive hoard of Undead that were flooding into that building.

I popped a 'nade into the horde, thinking, 'What the hell, so what if that attracts more?'. The view was glorious, as a big chunk of the hoard, became a undead pile of scraps. One of the zombies stray spinal cord even impaled another one! (I know i haven't commented on the story in a while, so i guess i mine as well start up again, Have you seen Zombieland? That movie is freaking amazing!) Anyways, back to the attack.

Now this is where Alice had a good idea! It happens! okay, so mabye not that often... but every once in a while.

"Help me get onto their roof". I looked at her like she was insane, which, probably wasn't the least accurate guess i've made, but then again she was in the middle of a class 4 zombie invasion (Yes, I completely, totally, just stole that from The Zombie Survival Guide, by Max Brooks. If you've never read that book, then it basically means Hell... with Zombies).

"Do you have your axe?," she demanded.

"Alice," I pointed out, "I'm not so sure that now is the time that you should be worried about smelling good!"

"Ha, funny," she stuck her tongue out at me, "But seriously, you have a grappling hook in your axe, right? So give me a python, and the Axe," I began to see what she was thinking, and i thought, once again, and not for the last time today, 'What the hell'. I handed 'em over, and wished her luck. She shot the grappling hook, and chopped the axe into a satalite. As she pulled out the Python to slide down the cable, she gave me a look, that let me know that she was doing this as a peace offering, in hopes that we could all start over.
