Chapter 4: Separation
"Get up!" Floyd screamed.
My head came up so fast that it knocked on a low laying branch.
"What?" I yelled back as I turned around, "Oh right".
I jumped up and made a grab at my shotgun, but I was to slow, a corpse raked its claws across my face. I pulled out my .45 (The one I didn't steal from the creep on the side of the road)and blasted a hole through his eye with a speed that would have sent professional gunslingers crying for mommy.
"Where's the kid?" I yelled as I took another shot. My question was answered for me though when I saw her running from a body.
So I grabbed my shotgun and shot it. I thought I killed it, but it just lost half its face (like, no big deal or anything, it's just the majority of my face), and then turned around to face me. It swung it's arm at me and blood gushed from the stump that showed where its hand used to be, so, remembering my boot last night, I blocked the stream of acidic blood with my gun, and it melted the shotgun barrel to a short size. So, of course, I added the finishing touches to his face. "Nice power," I thought.
"Get the kid and go," Floyd screamed. So I picked her up, swung up on the horse and galloped out of there, yelling a farewell, and good luck, cuz like dude, you're gonna need it.
