The time started dragging out as I started being introduced to each member of the pack. Most of the guys introduced themselves and told me what rank or title they held in the pack. They seemed to be proud of being a werewolf.

I tried to pay attention to the conversations around me, but some of it I didn't understand. Being surrounded by so many people made me feel claustrophobic and I felt like I was beginning to sweat.

Kyle kept close and had a dark look on his face for the most part. He didn't let me hold a long conversation with the guys which I actually appreciated. Dad was talking to Don and they both seemed happy. Other men stood around them and they all wore smiles. I envied them. If only I could be that carefree about all of this. God knows it would make my life much easier.

It was a little past midnight when my phone started vibrating in my chest. I walked away from the crowd to answer it. I had eyes on me the entire time. Every move I made, their eyes would follow. It was like I was a rare display put up just for them. I hated it.

"Vincent?" I smiled when I answered.

"You're not home." Was the first thing he said.

"We're having this...gathering thing."

"Is it torture?"

"God yes!" I said, feeling tingles in my tummy that he understood me.

I felt like Vincent knew me like no one else did. It was strange considering we hadn't known each other for long but in the short time it was like we were one.

And I loved that.

"Tell me where you're at and I'll rescue you."

"I don't think that will work. I have eyes on me and I think you're not allowed on this side of the woods."

"You're in the woods?"

"By the stream-"

"I'm on my way." He said.

"What? No. My dad will kill you." I said. "He already doesn't like you."

"I'm going to be there for you." Vincent said in a serious voice. "He can't stop me from being with someone I love."

"Vincent..."

"I'll be there in a few."

With that he hung up and I stared at my phone. I grinned like an idiot and cradled my phone close to me. It was stupid really. I knew the conversation about his parents was only momentarily put away, but I let myself enjoy that he had called.

I stood there like an idiot thinking about his words. It was too soon to say the L word that much I knew. I had never been in love and I had never gotten close to it, but with Vincent it could turn out to be that way. My perfect little daydream crashed when I turned my attention back to the crowd.
