Zac and Mimmi: A Mako Mermaids story

Part 1: A Misunderstanding

Rob is telling Lauren his concerns about Zac,
"Lauren, aren't you noticing that Zac is spending much more time with that new girl? It's starting to concern me, I mean, are you sure Zac isn't cheating on Evie?"

"Well, it is a little bit odd, but I trust our son. He would never do such thing to Evie."

"As you say so."

In the meantime in Zac's room, Zac and Mimmi are laughing about earlier in the day when Cam slipped on a banana peel.

"Oh that was the literal funniest thing I've ever seen Zac!"

"Yeah! That Cam's got a real knack for comedy!"

They were interrupted by a knock on the door, it was Rob and Lauren.

"Hey mum, dad. What are you doing here?"

Rob looked around Zac's room and slightly scowled when he saw Mimmi, Zac didn't notice.

"Well your mum and I were just hoping to drop by and check on our son."

Mimmi, sensing the tension, decided to leave, but Zac objected,
"Hey Mimmi, where are you going? You just got here."

"Uhh Ondina just sent me a text to meet her at the Cafe', bye Zac."

She smiled and left hastily. Zac confused, brushed it off as his parents invited themselves in his room.

Rob and Lauren sat down on the sofa, Rob motioned Zac to sit on the chair opposite them, he sat.

"Is there a problem?"

Rob and Lauren looked at each other and Rob sighed
"Zac, we've been noticing you are spending a lot of tine with that Mimmi girl, does Evie know about this?"

Zac looked up at his father, not knowing what to say.

"It's nothing to worry about I promise."

Lauren spoke

"We hope, I trust you Zac, I know you wouldn't do such a thing to Evie, but why are you acting this way, so weird?"

"That's true son, you haven't been acting like you ever since you went on that camping trip with Cam."

Zac stood there flabbergasted. He decided then and there that he should just tell his parents his secret. They are his parents after all, even if not biologically.

Zac then broke the long silence.
"Mum, dad, there is something that I never told you about, meet me here at 7 this evening, we're going to talk."

Rob and Lauren didn't know what emotion they were supposed to feel. Zac walked out of his room and left his parents sitting there, scared.

He arrived at the cafe' a few minutes later and saw Mimmi and Ondina sitting on a table, Carly conversing with the two while taking their order. Zac walked up to them,
"Hey Mimmi!" He grabbed her shoulders and kissed her forehead.
"Hey Ondina, Carly"
"Hey! the two said in unison

Zac then looked at Mimmi
"Listen, we need to talk"

They go on a separate table and Zac starts telling her what happened.

"So what you're saying is that your parents think that you're cheating on Evie with me, and they think you have been acting weird ever since you got back from your camping trip with Cam, so we are going to have to tell your parents everything?"

"Everything"

"Oh.. Ok! I guess we're doing this!"

Later at 7, as Zac had requested, Rob and Lauren knocked on the door and Zac opened it, revealing a very scared Zac and a much more scared Mimmi.

Zac motioned his parents to sit down, they sat down and stared at Zac as he walked over to Mimmi on the other sofa, he sat next to her and grabbed her hand,
"Don't worry, it's going to be fine"

But Rob took the simple platonic hand-grabbing gesture as a romantic one,
"Zac! I thought taught you better! How dare you cheat on your girlfriend!"

Zac realized his mistake and stood up,
"Woah woah dad! Mimmi's not my girlfriend!"
He sat back down next to Mimmi and looked at her, she nodded as if saying,
"Go for it"
Zac cleared his throat and said, "Mimmi is my twin sister."
