Paul and Amanda, the couple next to Evan on the plane ride, are exploring an outdoor market in Mexico on a hot, dusty day. Amanda looks at the jewelry at one of the market stalls as Paul solemnly watches her.
"Look at all this lovely-looking jewelry! Oh my god! I don't know which one I should get! Should I buy more than one do you think? I mean, there are a lot more stalls out here to check too! Oh, PAUL! Look at this one! Oh my god, this looks amazing! I might have to get this necklace!" Amanda rattles on endlessly.
"Uh-huh. Yeah, yeah... Oh, really? Is that so...That's nice dear. Very nice." Paul responds, half alive.
Amanda picks up a necklace and pretends to have it around her neck to see what it will look like on her. She then turns around to her husband and asks him what he thinks.
"Wow isn't this one just amazing! I find it fits me just right! So beautiful! What do you think honey? Does it look good on me?" Amanda blurted out.
"Yup, yup. How about that? Very interesting." Paul repeats, dead inside. Suddenly, Amanda finally catches on to how Paul has been responding.
"Paul! Have you been listening to a word I have been saying?!" Amanda yells, furious.
There is a long pause before Paul responds.
"No."
