CHAPTER ONE - A FLAWLESS BUTTERFLY
(05/03/2021)
Edited 24/08/2022Being a Bridgerton was an honour, to be brought up surrounded with wealth and luxurious gifts was a must in society. It seemed that the eldest daughter of Viscount Edmund was a treasure amongst it all. She was.
Beside her younger sister Daphne, Calista was the definition of raw beauty.Although every Bridgerton child was born with rather good looks; the boys were handsome and the girls delicately beautiful. All nine of the siblings were brought up with constant love surrounding them, they were in awe of their mother and father. When their father died, a part of their hearts died with him, they kept his honour alive with stories and music.
The year their father died, was the year that Calista was supposed to be rejoiced and a loving betrothal would soon occur shortly afterwards between her and the wonderful man that was Arthur Ramsey. It had always been rumoured that Lord Ramsey was completely and madly in love with the young woman. He had always planned to marry her.
However, things changed and Calista was unofficially shunned from her family and sent to the countryside to live with her mother's sister. The whole Ton believed that her departure was caused by the tragic death of Edmund.
Being separated from her twin brother, Colin was difficult as she felt as though her soul wasn't complete without him making her laugh from telling silly tales and jokes.
Being away from her youngest brother and sister, Gregory and Hyacinth proved that she lacked the joy that she once had living in London. The one year old twins were so pure and innocent, it was hard to leave them but Calista needed some time alone.
She didn't have a particular favourite sibling, they all had great different qualities. She used to admire her eldest brother, Anthony for his loyalty and compassion to his family but they had grown apart and for good reasons. Calista spoke back with more bark than any of the siblings. Ever since father died, he was the head of the family. Between her mother and Anthony, the two of them practically forced her away and never looked back.
Benedict was sensitive, he didn't quite take to social life as was expected but he still enjoyed the occasional ball if that meant he could spend time with his brothers. He kept up appearances to please his mother.
Eloise was very difficult and different to her other siblings, often finding herself entangled into her novels, some which were banned from society but she found her ways. At such a young age, nothing amused her, it was as if she had it all figured out. She reminded Calista of herself, not in all ways but she spoke up for herself and that was needed in a time where men ruled the world.
Francesca, however, was a mumbling sibling who was in love with the idea of love. She was not old enough to understand everything in life, she still at least half a dozen years to yet come out into society and for that, Calista was thankful. She had hoped that life would be blissful for his sisters, that hopefully she would find someone rich and wealthy enough that her sisters didn't have to push too hard on themselves.
Although, life doesn't always grant you the wishes that you desire.
AN: hello hello, I decided that I would change it up a bit so here is chapter one rewritten. It's not as long as the last one but I felt it was right x
