Snow was trying to show her mom good faith by going to hang out with her cousin Kelsi. It was her moms' hope that Kelsi would rub off on her and maybe, though it'd be a stretch, open Snow's eyes and make her realize that there was more to life than running the streets.
In Snow's mind she knew that was possible, having a life outside of ripping and running the streets, but the real question was what would she do? Where would she go? She had her GED, which was a lot considering what most street-runners had, but she knew that college or a 9 to 5 wasn't for her.
She wasn't going to run the streets her whole life eventually, and in her own words, she'd catch a bag and be set for life but until then she was going to keep trying to find her way to a forever payday.
"'Preciate it," she said, getting out Cane's car.
He'd been volunteered by Aunt Lessie to get up and drive Snow the short way to UD's campus apartments. It wasn't even a five-minute drive, but it was twelve in the afternoon and they didn't get back in the house until five that same morning. So, they were both groggy, pissed, and a little lagged from the night; but it was the only day that Kelsi could hang out...
Or so she said.
"Hit my celly whenever you ready 'cuzz," Cane yawned, busting an illegal U-turn in the middle of the two-lane street the minute she closed the door.
She watched him accelerate through the yellow light, but the bass of his music could still be herd until he swerved, making a fast left turn onto the busy street.
