FOUR: TRIPPIN
« You said you would get me high, but you took me out my mind, way down to the other side.... Bad trip »

Snow's mama was sending her some money through Western Union, so Cane was taking her to Walmart, her aunt Lessie handing them a grocery list full of stuff she needed when they were headed out.

He'd tossed her the key when he realized he left something in the house, so she was in the car first, her Bluetooth connecting and right as she chose Gucci to listen to, Cane slid in the driver's seat.

"Damn," he laughed, "when you set up yo shit to connect to my car?"

Laughing herself she looked over at him, "damn near two weeks ago, you late as fuck."

"You ain't ever hear the sayin' never touch a black man radio?" Cane closed the door, rubbing his hands together to warm them up since it was ice cold in the car.

"I touched the Bluetooth," she replied, factually. "Not the radio."

"You pushin' onna technicality, 'cuzz."

"And you tippin on my nerve," she chuckled, mocking him. "Cuzz..."

He laughed at her, but shut up and drove, bobbing his head and rapping along to Snow's song choices.

About twenty minutes later they were in Walmart going through produce, Snow pushing the cart while Cane moved around getting the stuff that Lessie put on her list.

"How come Lessie don't ever ask Kelsi to go to the store for her? She be down yo neck every day damn near..." Snow's voice trailed off as she watched her cousin, one foot on the lower bar of the cart as she leaned down onto it.

Cane grabbed a couple of onions turning to her, "Kelsi in school."

"So?" Snow snarled a little, pulling her head back. "'Cuz she in school that mean she too good to grab a couple groceries for her mama? She closer to Walmart than we is."

"Why call Kelsi when she can jus' ask me?"

"Cuz it seem like Kelsi her star ma'fuckin' child but you the one payin for all her bills and shit."

"Kelsi doin' right," Cane replied dryly, moving away from the section they were in, preparing to go to the frozen aisles behind the produce.

Snow could only roll her eyes. That was only thing that rubbed her the wrong way when it came to her Aunt Lessie. Kelsi was put on a high pedestal because she was in college meanwhile Lessie talked to Cane any kind of way and sat on her ass all day while Cane made money-although illegally-to pay all the bills and Snow didn't like that.
