CHAPTER FIVE

I removed the drawing "The Messenger of the Lord" from my table and took out paper from a drawer of my desk. The Angel opened the box and took out a pencil. He quickly traced on the paper and questioned me : "What do you see here?"

He had drawn two lines. One was perfectly straight, and another was winding.

"I see two lines," I replied with certainty.

"How are they?  describe them," he said with kind voice.

"One is straight, and the other is winding" I replied instantly.

"How do you know that this line is straight?" he pointed with the pencil, to the straight line.

This time I had no immediate response. It was because I was watching the straight line. It was obvious. But I understood that the Angel was trying to correct a defect in me. So, I did not answer, just wanted to ask.

"How do you get it perfectly straight?" I asked, admiring the perfectly straight line.

"Do you see the difference between the two lines?" he asked.

Obviously, anyone would see the difference.

"The right line is straight and left line is winding." he said flatly.

"You can know they are different because you compare them with each other. Your perception compared and then classifies them: the left one is straight and right one is winding."

"Hmm ..." I mumbled while tried to assimilate his teaching.

"How do you know that this is straight?" he pointed with the pencil line on the left.

I knew that he looked for to correct a defect on me. I kept silent staring lines. I was looking for the answer that the Angel expected of me. He waited a second and continued: "The answer is in your perception,"

Surely, he did read my mind and could know the continued question I wondered: What is the correct answer?

In the end I managed to say: "The answer lies in the way I see it"

"And how do you see it?" he asked.

"I see perfectly straight..." I replied.

"Do you know what a straight line is?" he inquired.

Your questions caused an awe in me and drove me to rummage in "my mental library," as my mother used to call to mind.

"Yes, I know," I affirmed sure.

"Where is that knowledge?" he inquired emphatically.

"In my mental libra..." I stuttered, thinking respond "mental library" by custom. "In my mind," said at the end.

"That knowledge is like a small book stored in the  "mental library," the answer flashed into my mind.

"When I look at the lines, I seek "little books" in my mind, that is, the knowledge that I have of the different kinds of lines and compare with I see." I affirmed.

"You see a straight line and immediately compare with your knowledge of the straight line." he spoke with certainty.

"How can you draw a perfectly straight line?" he asked, then paused and continued, "Look for a straight line on your "mental library" and draw the guiding line you have in your mind. You could say that you extract it from the mind and pass it to the paper "concluded emphatically.

No waiting for an order, I took a pencil out the my case and started drawing a straight line. My concentration was focused on the line of my mind.

"Amazing!" I said with admiration to see the result of my attempt, "It is totally straight" I expressed with a big smile.
