CHAPTER SEVEN
It was midnight. I had achieved a great deal of work and only a few hours had passed. The teachings of the Angels were amazing, by the way, and the excitement radiated through my eyes.
"The technical precision guides you to mastering drawing," he said, "The perception of balance will provide mastery to your drawings, it will increase the beauty of them. The balance oflines establishes the position accurately. It gives the correct point of view to each part of the drawing, enhancing the composition. To visualize the location and the position of each line, allows you to have control of precise results in which the work is established,"
His teaching filled the gaps of my knowledge. My ability had grown as I never had imagined. It was truly a blessing. My heart was over filled with love for God.
"Again, the perception will guide the balance of the lines and the balance of the artwork,"
"Focus your attention on the following exercise. You will realize it, by focusing your sight on the line, I will
draw with my finger while you draw without looking at your drawing in the paper."
He drew a horizontal line and on sequence, a vertical line. Then another horizontal line on sequence and at the end a vertical one. When finished, he had drawn... A perfect square!
With my gaze, I followed his lines while drawing. My curiosity invited me to look at my picture. He had drawn a square. The Angelcontinued drawing. A parallel to the first line, parallel to the second and so in succession to draw a smaller inner square than the first one. He continued drawing internal squares to the previous. A beautiful composition and perfect in itstrace.
"Look at your picture," he said.
"Perfect!" I said happily. My drawing again amazed me for its accuracy
.
"The balance of the lines..." I mumbled as I admired my drawing.
The Angel continued to make drawings todevelop my sense of balance: Compositions of geometric shapes in different positions. My ability continued to increase.
"The vision of the three-dimensional world is transformed into a plane through the drawing," he said as
he raised his hand to draw. "Put all your attention in this picture. Only follows the line that I draw with your eyes, but do not perform any line," he added.
I put the pencil on the table and fixed myattention on the tip of his finger creating the beamline. I followed the line with my view, it made me feel absorbed within seconds. It was a very nice feeling that gave me peace. To see him draw I realized how much I loved art. Yes, drawing was for me a passion.
All of the sudden, something that amazed me, he was drawing a scene on the street. On the houses, buildings, carriages, people, and trees. Soon the scene was familiar to me.
"It is the view of the street from my window!" I exclaimed exalted, "Haha!" I could not avoid laughing.
The Angel smirked.
"When we draw, it should be perceived the implicit bidimensional expression in what we watch," he added.
"Transforming what I look at as a drawing in themind, that is what I do," I said trying to prove the understanding of this principle.
"To draw something, you are not looking at in the moment as in the case of the street scene, what strategy do
youusetogettheaccuracyinthedrawing?"I asked expecting him to reveal his technique to me.
"For such precision is necessary, to focus and concentration on the mental image we have of theobject or scene, and applying the techniques that wehave seen in this class," the Angel said.
To continue he asked me to focus my concentration on an object or scene I knew well and could easily remember. I closed my eyes to find something that I would draw using my memory.Immediate, the face of my mother came to my mind.
"I will draw my mother." I exclaimed happily.
The Angel nodded. I closed my eyes andvisualized the face of my mother. I started drawing. I focused my attention on her eyes. Soon I was engrossed in what I saw in my mind. The linesflowed from my pencil quickly. I felt like I was flying as fast as lightning. It was that sensation which makes me fell in love ever more with drawing. I drew her eyes. They seemed to be watching me. Then I drew her nose ... her mouth next step ... the outline of her face ... the curls of herhair were there, where it took more then lost concentration with so many lines and shapes.
"It's Mom..." I said and smiled as I carefully looked at my drawing.
"Concentrating on the perception sets the precision," the Angel added.
The feeling that something was expandinginside of me overtook my thoughts. How deep could I develop my skills with the teachings I learned from the Angel?
