Cyrus? CYRUS? So this boy- was he NOT Dohyun?! Suji jammed her mouth shut to avoid looking like a fish gaping: she then asked him as casually as possible. "So... your name is Cyrus?"
His expression became guarded as the twin scrambled away. "Yeah, got a problem with that?"
"Nooooo......" Suji muttered, her voice fading at the end as she nodded slowly, turning her gaze away from him.
Yes. Matter-a-fact Suji DID have a problem with that. She had a pretty HUGE problem with that. This entire time, she was mad at a boy she had never met before because she thought he was Dohyun. How embarrassing was that! Suji shuffled at her spot as she resisted the urge to slap herself on her face. Therefore, she simply did a mental slap.
"If you say so," Cyrus muttered back as he clicked on the small oval shape at Suji's bracelet.
Cyrus took a step back and gazed at the two girls for a while. Suji could not help but think that he looked, acted, and even sounded like her imaginary friend, Dohyun. Cyrus walked back to them again, gently held their wrists, and placed their hands together. "Hold it." Suji and Melody did as told. "Each of the protection only works as a pair. Meaning, if you let go of your hands, you would be lost and possibly drown."
Melody squeaked and clutched Suji's hand tighter; Suji tried to keep a poker face from the pain.
"One way or another, your hands MUST be linked. If your palms get sweaty or anything, you can hold pinkies or something," Cyrus said, raising both of his hands to demonstrate.
Melody just clutched Suji's hand tighter as if to say, let just hold hands. Suji smiled slightly and squeezed back in reassurance.
"If you keep doing that, you will have an air bubble with a protective shield that would lead you straight to the institute the instant you step into the water. You would be knocked into a sitting position but go along with it, don't fight it. The bracelets have all the information which would bring you safely to the institute. Everyone else will follow along but if you run into any trouble, break the bracelets to alert us. Your hands getting apart from each other does not include because you can hold them again."
Suji nodded. "Keep holding hands, do not do anything else, and break bracelet in an emergency. Got it!"
Melody gulped. "Is... this the only way to escape?"
Cyrus glanced at her. "It will be secure as long as you do what she said," he paused to nod at Suji: Suji felt a strange pang at her heart when he said she instead of Suji, but since he was Cyrus, she decided not to think about it much. "It was either this or falling straight down to the ocean like how you guys did. You do have a choice."
"I-I will just go with this!" Melody swiftly replied.
"Nice choice. Aqua, bring it a bit closer!" Cyrus called.
Aqua nodded: the wall of water swooshed closer to the box they were standing. Suji gulped nervously as the water inched closer to her face. Melody made another small squeak beside her, clutching her hand so tightly that Suji was pretty sure that her body gave up providing oxygen to it.
"Ready?" Cyrus asked, his voice dangerously close behind them. Suji gulped again and gave a slight nod, preparing herself to walk in the wall of water. Instead, she felt a shove from behind, and both the girls tumbled into the body of water.
Suji yelped as she fell toward the raging ocean, gripping the hand of Melody in hers. She waited for the cold waters to sweep her away; yet, it never happened. Suji peeked open her eyes and saw they were in a gigantic bubble with a light aqua blue mixed with lime green color like the oval from their bracelet. Suji rolled back into a sitting position, her back laying down on the thin bubble surface. She blinked and bounced on it, wondering if it would pop, which it did not. Suji's legs spread out in front of her, her left hand placed on the side of the bubble, and her right hand gripped the left hand of Melody's, the bracelets shining brightly; Suji nudged the other girl slightly with their hands.
