"You okay, Victoria?" Calla asked after a long silence. "You didn't say a word this morning..."
Suji bobbed her head absentmindedly. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine."
Suji felt Adam and Calla exchange glances, but she relaxed when neither of them said anything. The trio was having their usual breakfast at the bustling cafeteria that they usually go to. It was only this morning when Suji woke up from her nightmare, and she decided to act like how she had at her school. Cold. It was too much for Suji to put up a fake smile and act like nothing had happened when she had faced the girl in her nightmares.
Although Suji was aware that she was selfish for being like this and that the other two were shuffling uncomfortably at their seats, she couldn't bring herself to act like how she usually did. This was probably why the two looked both relieved and scared when a loud alarm went off.
"Wha- What's happening?" Calla asked as she placed her fork down next to her plate as she glanced at Adam for an answer.
Adam's eyes widened with alarm before he shook his head. "I don't know, this never happened before..."
"Teleporting. Emergency meeting in 3... 2... 1," echoed a familiar robotic voice.
Suji's eyes widened with confusion, her expression changing for the first time of the entire day as she felt herself glitch out of existence as she did when she first came to Elliptical.
"Hello everyone," a familiar voice echoed the instant Suji was teleported.
She was in a circular room just like the one she was at when she first got to the institute. Suji gazed up at the white walls to see a pentagon shape appear from above. The wall zoomed in, and a balcony-like-platform was pushed in its place. A girl was standing tall on the platform, her hands placed on the marble bars in front of her. The Amicabiliter: Although it didn't show much, the Amicabiliter looked tired and worn out; her navy blue eyes were lit dimmer than usual. The Amicabiliter glanced around the crowd: Suji realized that all ages were in the room, instead of only the teens.
"You must be wondering why we're having a sudden meeting," the Amicabiliter stated calmly while the crowd shuffled in reply.
Out of the corner of her eyes, Suji saw Calla bobbing her head up and down. The Amicabiliter sighed before rubbing her temple. "It seems we have a bit of... trouble happening at the institute. Now, we have to evacuate out of it."
There was an outburst of whispers at that shocking news. "Move... out?" Calla echoed, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Of course, you're not required to join us," the Amicabiliter said as she popped her Infonet open. "You may leave if you wish; however, please be serious about this decision, for it'll be hard to rejoin us once you leave this time. But if you do leave, please be aware that you will not be getting any sort of punishment since you will already be no longer part of us."
Suji watched as her Infonet popped out in front of her. The usual home screen was gone, replaced with two big buttons. The left read, Leave, and the right read, Stay. Suji's fingers hovered between the two buttons in hesitation. If she left, she'll never have to worry about bumping into Calla every two seconds and could stay alone... Yet, the fact that this entire happening was her fault tugged at her. With a sigh, Suji pressed on the Stay button with no second thought, and in the corner of her eyes, she saw Calla glimpsing at her screen and pressing on the right button. Suji glanced up at the crowd, and she saw a few people glitch out of existence, probably those who had insisted on the Leave button. After a few minutes later, the Amicabiliter gazed at the crowd from above her Infonet.
