{Rachel's POV}
I ran through the long, dark hallways of the school I used to know. I pushed my legs to move faster as I listened to the long, low growls, and pounding footsteps that followed close behind me. I ran to the classroom closest to me and shut the door quickly. I looked around the room. I spotted some hobblers in the corner, I ran towards them and kicked one under the chin, making the neck separate in the middle and the head fly off. The other one walked up to me and held its jaws open. I unsheathed my katana and sliced its head off, stomping it in once it lay on the ground.
I walked over to one of the overturned desks and moved it so that it blocked the door, "Jésus." I muttered, sinking down the wall and sitting on the ground, my head in my hands.
That night I slept in the room, next to an unbroken window. I listened to the occasional hooo-hoo of an owl, but there was always the non-comforting, throaty growls of the undead.
When I awoke my first thought was to eat. I opened my hikers backpack and grabbed a little bit of my food supply. I was running low. When I was finished I threw my bags on my back and moved the desk away form the door. I looked out of the small window on the door and checked that the coast was clear. I opened the door and walked out into the hallway. I knew what part of the school I was in and where it was in context to the cafeteria.
I started on my way to the cafeteria and kept my katana at the ready. As I neared the cafeteria a large group of hobblers came up behind me, making me break into a heated sprint. I ran around a corner and hit something that felt like a wall. But there wasn't a wall there. I looked up to meet a pair of sleek blue eyes. I stubbed back but the man grabbed my arm and started to drag me somewhere.
"LET GO OF ME!" I shrieked, kicking him between the legs. He grunted in pain and let go of my arm for just enough time. I booked it to the cafeteria and slammed the doors shut.
