Hermione walked ahead of Ron and walked in between Pansy and Ginny.

"Listen Hermione, I know it's not my place, but you seem scared. Someone in a relationship shouldn't be having to get away from their partner. That's not true love." Pansy said nervously, scared for her reaction.

Hermione chuckled.

"Don't worry, I know exactly what I'm doing, I know Ron, he's just grieving." She smiled faintly and Ginny rolled her eyes at this.

They entered the classroom and sat towards the front.

The boys came in after and sat towards the back, talking to each other, not noticing the people around them.

"Attention." The professor said in a stern voice. Everyone gave him his full attention. He was a nice old man with brown hair. He was tall, wore glasses and had a nice smile, one that grandparents had. Everyone at Hogwarts respected him since he was very kind, a good teacher and just overall a lovely guy. He seemed lonely though, in Hermione's point of view. He smiled at everyone. If someone at Hogwarts was rude to him, the whole school would hear about it and glare at you.

"Thank you. Now let's get started and do a recap of last year. We'll brew Liquid Luck, and next lesson I will see if we are ready to brew Amortentia."

The class sat silently and waited for him to continue. He got his textbook and opened it to the page that they were to go off of.

"Page 56, and your partners are on the board." He said not looking up from the book and flicking his wand at the board. People groaned and muttered about how they didn't get to choose.

Hermione looked at the board and saw her name, next to Malfoy's. Hermione didn't even notice he was in this class, and now they were potions partners? She saw her friend Ginny, paired with Zabini and Pansy with Nott. Ginny rolled her eyes at the board and stayed in her seat, expecting him to come to her. Pansy did the same while Hermione got up and made her way to Draco, until, she heard someone talking loudly.

"Professor!" Ron said, the whole class went quiet and listened in to what he was going to say. "Yes, Mr Weasley?" He said not looking at him, writing notes on the board. "Hermione can't be with Malfoy, she just can't be!"

"And why not?" He continued writing. Hermione stared wide eyed at the back of Ron's head.

"He's bullied her since she was 11, why on earth would she be partners with him?"

Draco rolled his eyes.

The professor turned around to face Ron smiling innocently.

"And you think Ms Granger here," He said nodding his head to her. "-would be comfortable to be partners with you, is that right?"

"Yes Professor." Ron nodded and looked back at Hermione, a glint of annoyance in his eye. Hermione looked back emotionless, and in shock.

"Do you not think she is more than capable, Mr Weasley?" The professor asked. Their classmates stared wide eyed.

"I mean, come on sir, do you really think-" Ron scoffed.

"-That is enough Mr Weasley!" He said loudly. Students gasped. They'd never heard him scream as serious as he did now.

"Ms Granger is a lovely young woman, who if you remember, survived through a war, saving us all. I think she can handle a normal teenaged boy, don't you? Now get back to your seat!" He said sternly.

Draco perked up at his words. A normal teenaged boy. He smiled to himself. Draco had always admired this professor. Maybe he could be a normal boy.
