The journey back to the mountain resort was quite uneventful compared to his frantic driving excursion last night. Yuqi stayed quiet most of the time. Once in a while she would give him a somber look then continued watching green forest scenery. He didn't know what to do about that but he was kinda relieved her parents decided to ride with them. He didn't know what would happen if they were left alone.
Saturday morning seemed to melt away as they glided through the long winding country lane. They reached the mountain resort at a quarter past twelve. After The Song family got their rooms, Lucas dragged himself back to his room. The exhaustion from last night's excursions finally got to him. He fell into a deep slumber as soon as his head touched the fluffy white pillow.
Several hours later he woke up with a startle. He sat up abruptly at the sound of feminine giggles and found out the sliding glass windows were open. On the balcony sat a black-haired girl in the purple-striped tee, chatting animatedly with another girl who sounded like Yuqi, but he could be wrong since he couldn't see the other girl. Both girls seemed oblivious of his presence. He rubbed his eyes and frowned, wondering whether he was in some kind of visual hallucination due to lack of sleep. He couldn't remember─
In the middle of his confusion, Mark walked out of the bathroom. "Oh, you up!" Mark greeted, looking somewhat cheerful. The conversation from the balcony ceased down as the girl in purple-striped tee turned around and Yuqi peeked out from behind curtain-covered glass window. So it was her, he thought.
"You sleep like dead..." said Yuqi as she strolled toward him with a gleeful expression. The other girl followed her, sporting eye-smiles at him. She looked familiar but he couldn't remember her name at the moment.
"How did you get in here?" Lucas frowned, feeling daze.
"I met Mark in the lobby..." replied Yuqi as she casually climbed onto his bed and sat cross-legged next to him. Mark coughed and gave the black-haired girl a winning smirk.
"How? I thought you're going home?" he asked Mark.
"I did but Mina wants to see the live acoustic, so we came back..." explained the guy, picking a Pepsi can from the coffee table and take a sip.
Mina? Lucas threw him a searching look then glanced at the girl in the purple-striped tee, studying her. He didn't remember seeing her but Mark must have mentioned her before because he remembered the name─
"Ouch..." he groaned when Yuqi nudged him on the ribs as he continued to stare at the black-haired girl. "What?" he mouthed at her. She gave him a stop-staring sort of expression. Mark who had been quiet for a while let out a snort of laughter from the couch, looking amused by their interaction.
Lucas cleared his throat and turned to the other girl. "Have we met before?"
She laughed. "Uh, I might have bought you guys fried chicken once..."
"Oh! That's you?" Lucas exclaimed. She nodded and laughed again. He remembered her now. Mark's childhood best friend and his long-time crush, Kang Mina.
"Are you guys staying for the weekend then?" Lucas gave Mark a meaningful look.
"That's the plan..." muttered Mark, looking bashful for the first time since Lucas knew him.
"That's great! You can stay with me!" chimed Yuqi, clapping her hands, looking delighted over the news. "Err...if you want...that is..." She hastily added, sporting Mark an apologetic smile.
