Her parents were devoted Christians, but they always had to work on Sundays. It was very rare that they got a chance to go. This week was no different. They left for work early, like normal. Because she couldn't get out of bed alone, she had to wake up with them. She didn't like it at first, but she got used to it. Danny couldn't go to church either, his family was cleaning the whole house today.
That night, Tanya's mother came into her room.
"Kiddo, I think we need to talk. I know how you've been feeling lately."
"Danny told you..." Tanya said. She didn't really care, mainly because she knew he wouldn't have told anyone unless he truly wanted to help. Plus, she never really asked him not to say anything.
"That, and I know my daughter. Honey, God knows who you are. He wants the best for you. I know you don't think a wheelchair is the best. I know. But I have something to show you," Her mom said, pulling out an old photograph.
"Mom? Who is this?" She asked. The photo was of a girl, a teenager. She was dressed in a crop top, and really short shorts.
"That used to be me. Before I met your dad. I was pretty much a devil child. I did things you wouldn't even imagine. But when I met your father, he changed me somehow. He talked about God all the time. To anyone who cared to listen. I liked what he was saying, so I texted him. And from then on, our relationship grew. By the time I figured out that I liked him, I had started to change. He changed me. I began to dress modestly, even began to read the Bible. I stopped going to parties. And a lot of my friends left me. Which was okay by me. But now, I can see that God put your father in my life for two reasons. He changed my life for the better, and he became my husband." She said.
Tanya looked confused.
"Why are you telling me this?" She asked. She looked at the photo again.
"To show you that God can change anyone. And He knows what He's doing." Her mother said. "Meaning, He must have a plan for you. Never doubt your worth." She continued.
