Doubting

Tanya sat on the couch, staring at her computer screen. The house was silent, so she turned on the TV. She was alone for the day, now that she got the hang of getting around in her wheelchair. She had been able to pull herself onto the couch, surprisingly. She had been writing a book before the accident happened, and was just now getting back to it. Her Bible hadn't moved since she got home. She didn't feel like reading it. She was too upset with God. He had taken away one of the most important things in her life.

"God... if You have any reason for taking away the use of my legs, please tell me soon. I don't see Your way." She whispered. She continued writing her book, waiting for anything from God.

That night, she sat on her bed.

"I don't even know who I am anymore. No one is going to want me for anything. I've seen and heard stories about people in wheelchairs, they get shamed and stuff because they can't do a bunch of things like others," She whispered. "Am I really not worth anything now?" Tears rolled down her face. Then she remembered the verse. Jeremiah 17:7.

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him." She kept repeating that, but it wasn't really changing her thinking. She didn't feel like she was worth anything anymore.

This thinking went on for days. Almost three months. No one knew, she always tried to hide it. She knew people would tell her the opposite, but she wouldn't believe it. No one would understand. They had their legs. No one else she knew was in a wheelchair. She felt helpless.
