Kaycee arrived at Bailey's house carrying bags full of snacks for the party and for their mini sleepover after. Bailey opened the door for her, greeting her with a hug then helping her unload the grocery bags on her kitchen island. The two girls spent the next hour decorating Bailey's living room for the party and just laughing and talking about anything they can think of. When they got tired, they decided to sit on the couch and play a movie just to pass the time. With the movie playing a few minutes in, the two grew quiet, not really watching the movie but more on staring at it while thinking deeply. The older girl thinking about recent events revolving around a black-haired asian boy while the younger girl looking at the girl beside her, observing and patiently waiting, for the older girl to talk.

"So I met Connor earlier at Target." Kaycee started, fully shifting her body to face Bailey.

"Connor? Finnerty? The blonde one?" Bailey asked.

"Yeah him," Kaycee agreed while she grabbed a pillow from the couch, placed it on her lap, and hugged it smooshing half of her face. "he told me he used to like me and invited me at a party next week."

"He what? Oh my God Kay he liked you? What did you say?" Bailey jumped excitedly on the couch, a guy confessing to your bestfriend is something worth getting excited over.

"I sorta told him I'm not looking to be in a relationship right now and that I'll check my schedule for the party." Kaycee further buried her face in the pillow. Discussing suitor prospects is embarrassing for her but she needed to be open to Bailey, she's like another sister for her.

"Not looking to be in a relationship my ass." Bailey scoffed. "Sorry for cussing Kay but I really think you need to widen your options."

Bailey placed her hand on her shoulder causing the older girl to look up and look at her. "Look Kay, you're my best friend and Sean is too. But as much as I love him, that boy is just plain clueless. I really think it's either you confess to him and look where that takes you or you open yourself at the idea of letting other people be with you. You're too hung up on Sean at the moment that you restrict yourself meeting other guys and shutting down opportunities. You can't keep this up Kay, I know it hurts you but you can't keep hurting yourself."

Kaycee pondered on Bailey's words. She made up her mind.

"You're right. I'm telling him. Tonight. Oh God." Kaycee groaned burying her face on the pillow once again.

"I'm proud of you," Bailey said while hugging Kaycee "whatever happens tonight I'm here for you ok?"

The party was in full swing when Sean decided to come. Being the gentleman he was, he baked a cake and brought it to the party.

I mean, what's a party without a cake? He thought as he struggled to open the door with one hand while balancing the cake with the other. Lucky for him, Julian saw him through the window.

"Hey, bro glad you could make it." Julian greeted as he opened the door for Sean. "Bails is around back with Kaycee. Nice cake by the way. You're making us look bad again Sean."

Sean chuckled as he placed the cake on top of the laid out table, got his punch to drink, and watched as a few of their friends and mentors take on the dance floor. The party was just a small get together for them. A time to relax and be with the comfort of friends while doing the thing that they love, dancing.

"Well, well if it isn't my boy Sean!" Josh screamed as he walked across the room to hug Sean.

"It's been a while Josh. Too bad we guys can't hang out much. We've just been busy these past weeks." Sean explained as his two best friends flanked his side.

"Yeah dude, the shit you and Kaycee put out? Pretty serious stuff. We're proud of you." Julian said while grasping Sean's shoulders and giving him an excited shake. "Speaking of Kaycee, what's the deal between you two."

"What deal? We're bestfriends Jules, you know that." Sean said taking a drink from his punch.

"Come on you can't fool us. We see the way you look at her and how you act around her. You guys move like magnets, what with all the action-reaction dances you do. She moves, you move, and believe it or not the action-reaction thing also works vice versa." Josh explained with Julian nodding along and looking at Sean intently.

Sean sighed and brought the palms of his hands to his eyes. "I keep telling you guys. She's like a little sister to me. I care for her, that's what I do, what I'm meant to do."

Josh and Julian could only look at each other after hearing Sean's words. They could do nothing but take Sean's word for it for now, even if they could hear the doubt in Sean's voice as he said them. Unbeknownst to them however was that Kaycee heard everything Sean said and she could do nothing but walk away.
