His promise

Chapter 9

I woke up due to the loud voices in the morning. Ugh why do the parents think it's okay to disturb their children's sleep they use the vacuum, food processor and what not. On the other hand we always try not to create a single noise while they're sleeping even tip toeing for the sake of it.

"I am not going to push my daughter in that hell. I'll not allow this marriage".
My dad shouted.

Oh my God this so early for this I thought and ran downstairs to try to diffuse the tension. Keyword 'try' .

"What are we going to do Hasham he has his guards posted outside our house. He even threatened Rayan's life" ,Mama cried.

They looked at me when I entered the living room.
"Mehmil why didn't you tell us about this? Did he hurt you or tried anything with you", Dad said coming towards me and inspecting me.

"No he only talked about marriage with me and he told me had talked to you about this too. Why didn't YOU tell us about it ?", I countered.

"Just think what will we do now stop discussing pointless things" mama said hysterically.

I went to her , "Calm down mama nothing will happen I will marry him and he'll leave you guys alone".

"How can I remain calm he is threatening my family and no you're not sacrificing yourself like an amazing heroin" she exclaimed.

"Mama don't worry your daughter will not make it easy for him I'll take my revenge." I tried to pacify her.

"Who are you taking revenge from? You know the best way for you to take revenge is to marry that person. Poor man will be miserable" Rayan said skipping into the room unaware of the progressing tension and stilled when all of us turned to glare at him.

"Whaat I was just kiddin..g" he stammered.

"Rayan go your room your kidding is not needed here" dad snapped at him.

I looked at them when Rayan left the room and said , " Guys I have decided to marry him it's better if we agree on this instead of him forcefully coming and taking me from here. What if he comes and kidnap me or forcefully marry him we will not be able to do anything in-front of his guards. It will only create a scene and people will talk about us."

Dad rubbed his forehead and muttered, "I have some contacts I'll try to get us out of this situation."

I sighed, "Dad it will only create a blood bath even if we come out unharmed he'll harm Faraz and other people related to me. How long will we run? This is our home, your home I don't want this kind of life for you guys."

"I don't care about anything Mehmil except you and your happiness I'll do whatever I can to save you from this" .

"Abbu think about Rayan he has his whole life ahead of him I don't want him to live in fear. If you want my happiness then I'll be happy knowing you guys are safe".

Mama wiped her tears and said , "She's right Hasham forcefully or willingly this marriage will happen. It's better to do it willingly".

Dad sat down with head in his hands, "What kind of father am I ? How can I let my daughter sacrifice herself? I promised my brother I'll take care of you. How will I face my brother in afterlife?"

I hugged him and said , "Dad you're the best father, you've never discriminated between me and Rayan. I'll not let you choose me over him now. You have always treated me like your own.
Your brother will be very happy with you. The only father I know is you please don't ever say this kind of things. Every girl has to leave her home after marriage and I want you to hand me off I don't want things to worsen to an extent that I have to marry without you. Please fulfil my last wish I'll never ask anything from you again".

"Beta(daughter) what you're asking of me is very big. If you think you want to return the favour and sacrifice yourself for us then please don't do it I'll do whatever it takes me to save you from this".

My father was right I was doing this to save my family. I was very scared when I heard about him threatening Rayan. Rayan was the only biological child of my parents and he was born after 13 years of their marriage after many difficulties and complications. I didn't want my parents to take this difficult decision. If we key word being IF we managed to escape this city, then we'll have to spend our whole life living in fear, looking over our shoulders, changing places. It will badly affect Rayan's life and his education.

This was my parents home they have created it with so much love, hard work, sweat. I don't want them to sacrifice all of this for me but convincing them was proving to be very difficult.

"No dad I can never return your favours. I just don't want any mishaps and we're helpless in this situation. Just say yes when his parents come please." I just pleaded.

After so many arguments, tears and yells I was finally able to convince my parents. The question is who will convince me? How and when will I accept this?
