Waverly
"We've got about 30 seconds before someone comes knocking at that door."
"What!?" I screech as I try to rebutton my blouse as quickly as possible. He just laughs before helping me finish the last few buttons.
Then he turns serious. "We need to talk about what happened in that warehouse."
"Now?" I stand up adjusting my skirt. "I'm still trying to piece together what happened myself.."
*knock knock*
He grabs the blazer that's been hanging on the back of his chair and hands it to me. While I'm putting it on, I notice the rather large bulge in his pants. Without thinking, I reach out my hand to feel how big he really is, but he grabs my wrist before I can. Giving me a rather possesive growl. He turns me around and presses himself into my back before announcing. "Enter."
Leo and Flynne enter first, followed by a couple of elders I've met, Taylor, a small handful of others I haven't met, and then Austin. I give him a smile as he enters. He seems to breathe a sigh of relief upon seeing me. He gives me a half smile back before quickly averting his eyes. But not before I notice the black and blue marks over his left eye and the cut on his bottom lip. I look over my shoulder at Dex, who is giving Austin a death stare. I can only assume who gave him that black eye..
Dex pulls me by the hips back with him as he sits in his chair behind his desk. He sits me on his lap as I notice the mess we left still covering his desk. I reset the coffee cup and reorder the papers we messed up as he speaks to the room. "Thank you all for coming. Those of you here know or have some idea of the incident last night. The information spoken tonight does not leave this room." The room nods in agreement.
The meeting starts and a lot of words are spoken. I, however, am finding it difficult to concentrate with Dex's still hard member pressing against my ass. We go over all of the events from the other night. Then, all of the questions turn to me.
"This was really your first shift?" Leo asks.
"Yes." I answer.
"That would make plenty of sense as to why the events from last night are foggy for you. Everyone has trouble remembering their first shift in the beginning." Taylor pipes in.
"But what doesn't make sense is the strength of her attacks. The odds seem impossible for a strong wolf, let alone a kitten shifter. Who were your parents again?" One of the elders questions.
"I-I have no clue. I was dropped off at Silver Creek when I was little.. No one had mentioned anything about my family beyond the fact of them not wanting anything to do with me.."
"So who raised you?" Flynne asks.
"Um, I was passed around to different pack members until I was old enough to work. I was allowed to go to school like everyone else in the pack, but beyond that, I was to stay near the kitchens and work wherever I was needed within the cafeteria wing."
Dex shifts beneath me. "You're fucking kidding. They used you as labor?" He mumbles some profanities about Silver Creeks alpha, and I feel a certain part of him deflate.
"You really have no idea who you could be related to?" Leo asks.
I look down at my hands. Dex, feeling my discomfort wraps an arm around me and gives a little squeeze. "We're just trying to understand how the events of last night were even possible. Just try to think if there's anything that could hint at where you came from. Anyone outside your old pack who would check in on you?"
"There's nothing. Nobody ever visited or checked in on me. And anytime I ever asked about anything, everyone just said it didn't matter who they were because they didn't want me. I was disowned.." I feel myself droop a little before remembering, "There was someone who came around at the first moon after my 18th birthday. Someone from outside of Silver Creek. They wore a hood, so I never really got to see their face or anything, but I remember feeling like they were watching me. When everyone but me made their first shift, they left. Never spoke to anyone other than our Alpha. But I feel like they must have been someone fairly important with how respectful Alpha was with them."
The elders give each other a look. "There was a rumor going around several years back about a young royal who had gotten pregnant.. Rumor had it that she fell in love with a human. Of course, there are always rumors surrounding the royal family, but there's rarely ever any truth to it."
I notice Taylor start frantically writing something in his notepad that he's always scribbling in before he looks up at me with a rather maniacal look. I find it discomforting, so I lean into Dex more than I already had been. He notices Taylor's change in demeanor as well.
"Something you'd like to share with the group Taylor?" Dex questions.
"Well, as I had explained to you previously about her wolf form, Canis Lupus Arctos is very rarely seen in werewolves." He starts cluttering on about common werewolf wolf forms and their coat shades and variations and the connections to different packs and areas of each continents. "Anyways, I will need to do some further research on the specifics, but the interrelation between her wolf form and the possible connection to a royal line would explain the rarity of color." Taylor stated exuberantly.
Upon hearing that I may have a connection to royalty somehow, all eyes turn to me. I feel myself slowly trying to shrink away beneath the desk before us. Dex's arm tightens around me slightly. "Okay, I think that's enough for today." Dex interposed before adding a few closing statements and dismissing the group.
Once everyone has left and the office door finally closes, anxiety takes over me and I start pacing the room.
"I'm sorry, Waves, that's a lot to take in. But hey, at least we're a little bit closer to knowing who you are." Dex says.
"That's the thing Dex. We're not." I declare. "It just makes everything more complicated. And even if there is some truth to it, it doesn't change the fact that no matter who I was or where I came from, nobody wanted me." I deflate.
Silence covers the room for a beat before Dex whispers, "I do." He steps towards me and uses the side of his pointer finger to tip my chin upwards to look at him. "Since the moment I found out about the mating bond as a child, I wanted you. Before I found you, I couldn't wait to know who you were and where you came from, but in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't matter to me. All that matters to me is that I found you. You're my mate, and there isn't one bit of information about your past that we could learn that could change the fact that I want you."
I feel a tear slide down my cheek. There are so many things I feel I should say, but all I can manage to mutter is "Thank you." As I cling to him, burying my face into his chest.

Thank you for reading! Please rate and leave a comment if you'd like to see this story finished! I will be working hard over the next few months to get my vision for this story written into words. My perfectionism makes it difficult for me to publish chapters, but I will be publishing them despite that and plan to reread and revise as needed even after publishing. Please bear with me, and again, thank you so much for taking the time to read my story!
