That evening...
Waverly
After Dr. Taylor has filled me in on everything that happened last night he believes I'll be fine to sleep in our-I mean Dex's room tonight. I lost a lot of blood yesterday. I wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for Dex volunteering his own blood. Taylor said that because of the high power in Dex's blood my body tried to shift last night. He gave me a shot to keep that from happening. Taylor reminded me that I never would have survived a change. Especially in my state last night.. I honestly feel worn out. Taylor said the shot that he used should last up to 72 hours so he'll want to monitor me in the next couple days to make sure my body doesn't try to shift again.
I've been waiting for Dex to come back all day. I'm not supposed to do much so Taylor insisted it best I stay in bed until he has a chance to assess any changes in the morning.
*Knock knock* "Hey Waves! Are you awake? I come bearing gifts." A familiar voice utters through the closed door.
"Come in Lila!" I smile.
The doorknob twists. Delilah steps out from behind the door carrying a tray and beams her customary smile. Closing the door behind her she then holds the tray out to me like an offering. "I brought food!"
"You're the best." I compliment her as I sit up in bed.
She opens the tray for me revealing a maple glazed salmon with a side of brocolli stuffed potatoes and goat cheese stuffed dates for dessert. Taylor has insisted on me eating any and all blood boosting foods the kitchen can come up with.. "How're you feeling?" Delilah asks.
"Pretty good considering. I'm sorry you're stuck serving me dinner."
"Oh sweetie I volunteered!"
I giggle. "Well thanks. I truly appreciate it. Have you heard from Dex? I haven't seen him all day."
I can tell my question makes her slightly uncomfortable. "He's been..busy. I'd say more but I think it's best you talk with him."
I look down and give her a tentative nod before picking up my fork and changing the conversation to a lighter topic.

Dexter
After the meeting this morning I've been working with Leo and Flynne to figure out the best strategy to take these guys out. We took a group out back to the location of Waverly's attack after the pack meeting. Further inspection showed that this incursion was not a one time thing. They'd been crossing into our territory at least a handful of times. They're good at covering their tracks. But my guys are better. I'm vexed that this wasn't caught the moment it happend. I've never cared for someone like I care for Waverly before so I'm constantly finding myself thinking irrationally in this situation. Lucky for me wolf is smart enough to realize this. Keeping me from doing anything prematurely.
It's closing in on 1 am while the three of us are still in my office getting all of the new information we found today down on paper and plotting out our forward planning.
"We've got a good start here Dex. Reinforcements on the perimeter. No one leaves the house alone." Leo states.
"I think it's important that we figure out a new boarder patrol protocol. We cannot have anyone crossing our boarder unannounced without serious repercussions." Flynne adds.
"I agree Flynne. I want motion sensored cameras set up around our entire territories perimeter. I want them all camouflaged well and I want them installed ASAP." I glance up at the clock. "You both get some rest. We'll pass our plans along only to our tech savvy members and have them get a start on this project right away at first light. And don't forget. They're to always work in pairs. Have them start near Grey Lagoon."
After dismissing them. We all head up to bed. I need to attempt to get some rest. I haven't slept since everything has happened and I know it's starting to show. Upon entering, the room is dark. Waverly is sleeping so I do my best to keep quiet and not wake her. She needs her rest even more than me. I slip out of my shoes at the door. Find my sweatpants and a comfy shirt before taking my usual position on the couch.
I try my best to stop my brain from overanalyzing the days events but it's proving difficult. Somehow, I finally drift off.

*loud, piercing scream*
I'm awakened by the sound of Waverly screaming uncontrollably. In an instant I'm at her side.
"Waves it's okay!" Sitting on the bed next to her I try to hold her close. Her fist hits my chest before she tries her best to push me away. "It's me, Dex." I pull her in tighter. "You're safe." She struggles for a moment longer before relaxing. Whimpering, she burrows her face into the crook of my neck.
It's not long before there's a knock at our door.
"Dex? Everything okay?" A voice asks.
"Under control. Thanks for checking." I assure them.
I continue to hold her. Stroking her hair while I feel the moisture accumulating on my shirt from her tears. "Is there anything I can do?" I finally ask.
"Stay with me?" She whispers.
"Hunny I'm not going anywhere."
She grabs for the blanket covers and I stand so she can take them. She then lifts them as an invitation for me to join her. I take her face in my hands to wipe her remaining tears before removing my damp shirt and tossing it to the corner. I quickly reclaim my spot next to her, taking her in my arms again. She nuzzles her face into my chest. Feeling her skin against mine, I can't help the damn tingles from taking over my entire body. We stay like this for awhile. I listen to her breathing change to long steady breaths. Knowing that she has fallen back to sleep I let myself follow suit.
