A week later...

Waverly
I think I could actually be happy here. Dex is so sweet. He's respected my wishes about not sleeping together. I've offered many times to sleep on the couch but he insists that he should instead. He's introduced me to the pack and I've truly never felt more at home. I actually made a friend now! Her name is Dalila.

"Waves! You about ready for a run?" Dalili asks.

"Sure! Just let me finish up here."

I've had free range over the entire pack house, yet I still find myself spending most of my time in the kitchen. I decided to make a cheesecake for Dex tonight. It's one of his favorite desserts. I'm so thankful for Dalili too. She's been so nice to me and makes me feel like I truly fit in. Since I'm not capable of shifting for a run like a typical werewolf she runs with me in her human form. She's been showing me around the pack lands. It's so beautiful here. I put the cheesecake in the fridge to cool.

"Give me two minutes to change and I'll meet you out front?"

"Sure thing Waves."

I head upstairs to change. Dex has fully stocked a portion of the enormous closet full of clothes for me. I choose a pair of running tights, a tank top, and a tight zip up hoodie. I put on a pair of Nike's and head to meet Delila. As I step out the front door I notice her speaking with one of the pack members. He leaves and Delila turns to smile at me.

"Sorry Waves but it looks like my Dad needs me for something." Her Dad is an enforcer and an important pack member. "Can I catch up with you later?"

"Sure, not a problem." I smile even though I'm a little disappointed. I watch her jog off. "No point in me wasting a good outfit.." I decide to explore the trails to the west since I haven't seen anything that direction yet.

Sitting in my office I had just gotten a letter that would be explaining what was expected for the next Moon party. I cut open the letter and after reading the first few lines I realize it has fallen on my pack to host the next event. Great. As if I don't have enough to worry about as it is. We've been able to keep Bloodrose in check for the most part and the new patrol protocols I've put together should nip things in the bud completely. My enforces have been made aware of the changes and will be relaying all information to those in the need to know. Things have been going okay with Waverly too. We haven't really gotten much closer like I had hoped, but she seems happy compared to when I first met her. I'm glad she's at least made a friend here too. Lila has a good heart and is one of the strongest female fighters in my pack. Which makes sense with her Dad being one of my top enforcers.

All of the sudden Flynne comes bursting into my office.

"What the hell?"

"We've caught a scent of one of our pack members heading towards the western trails." Flynne announces.

"What? I thought we made it clear to stay away from that portion for awhile."

"Dex, I - it's - well I'm pretty sure anyways that-"

"Spit it out Flynne."

"It's Waverly."

My heart skips a beat. "It can't be. Lila wouldn't take her that way."

"That's the thing.. She went alone."

"How sure are you?"

Flynne sighs. "It was her Dex."

"Get a group together." I order as I jump from my seat.

After about an hour and a half or so I realize the distance I've gone. It's so easy to lose track of time in the beauty of these woods. I continue walking for a ways until a stumble upon the most beautiful pond I believe I've ever seen. I decide to rest a bit nearby. I find a nice tree overlooking the pond and settle in. Another half hour passes when I notice a wolf loping across the ridge nearby. I watch as it comes toward the pond. It steps behind a tree and after a moment a man steps out. I wave figuring Dex must have sent someone to check on me. He walks over and I stand up.

"Hey. I was just getting ready to head back."

"Is that right?" The man replies.

"Yeah, I know it's getting late. I just lost track of time." I smile.

"Easy to do out here." He's completely fixated on me. His stare is making me border line uncomfortable.

"Yeah.. So Dex must have sent you huh?"

"Must have?" He almost questions.

"I'm sure he got worried once he realized I wasn't with Lila."

"Why would he be concerned with you?" At this point I realize he's stalking me. And he's quickly positioned me upwind from him. I notice his nostrils flare. He smiles with a malicious glee. "What's a kitten doing all by herself way out here?"

"Yo - you're not-"

He pulls something shiny out of his pocket and suddenly I feel a sharp pain cross my stomach. I grab at the pain and quickly realize my hands are full of blood. He grabs my hair, pulling me to him to whisper into my ear. "Tell your Alpha Gideon is coming for him." He let's go and I fall to the ground. In shock, I cant move. All I can do is watch as the man walks away. He quickly shifts, then runs off in the direction he came.

Thanks for reading! Sorry I haven't been getting chapters out as quickly as I'd like. Life always gets crazy just when you think its settling down! Anyways, please comment and let me know what you think of the story so far! I know I've said it before but I'm super thankful for each and every view. It truly means the world to me! I'll try to get another chapter or two out before the Holidays.
