DAMIEN'S POV:
She's mine now, all mine. I'd never thought I'd find love again till I met her, Sydney.
The day went by in a blur and soon enough it was almost time for the dinner.
Tonight she'll be coming by and we'll get this dreaded family dinner over with. I'm not going to lie, I'm not excited. With my dad around, there's going to be awkward tension all around. He'll probably say something to offend me and I'll get annoyed, the cruel bastard.
"Sydie's going to be here soonnnn" Chloe screamed as I put on my shoes.
"Yes munchkin, and a little birdie told me that she'll bring your Barbies" I said to her and she yelled.
"What is all the yelling for!" A voice boomed and our moods dampened. My dad.
No one actually bothered to give a reply to what he said and we just carried on. It's been this way for over 2 years. He'd get annoyed and we'd turn a blind eye.
"Master Damien" Maurice the butler said as he stood at the door to my room, "The guests have arrived"
"Sydieeee" I heard Chloe's voice through the halls.
"Thank you Maurice, and please don't call me Master, I'm not that awful man who hired you" I said and he gave me a small smile.
I got up and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked okay in the dress shirt and slacks together with the dress shoes I was wearing. I had to pull of a formal look because of my father.
I sprayed on my favourite cologne and walked downstairs.
My mom was helping the maids set up the table and Chloe was somewhere, I'm sure she was given the Barbies.
I walked to the living room and there she was, dressed formally in a black dress that hugged her body, she looked amazing.
"Wow" Was all I could say and she turned around to face me.
"You look good Damien" she said and walked to me, "Are you sure this isn't a fashion show?"
With that I laughed and hugged her, she smelled like Vanilla, "You should see my parents, the look like they're hosting a ball for the royal family"
Immediately I said that my parents walked through the door, my dad had a frown on his face - as usual - and my mom had plastered on a bright smile. They both looked nice might I add, my dad was wearing an Armani suit and my mom was wearing a blue diamond-embedded gown.
"Thank you for coming tonight Grace" my mom said and hugged Mrs. Parker.
"It's my pleasure Iris, and I have a feeling this won't be the last time, oh we should definitely go out shopping soon!" Mrs. Parker exclaimed and my mom agreed.
They were definitely best friends, they behave the same.
"Oh goodness no, they're acting like kids" Sydney murmured and I chuckled.
"Shall we get dinner started?" Mom said and everyone nodded.
We all took our seats at the grand sized dining table. My dad sat at the head, with my mom on his right, I sat at his left side with Sydney beside me. Chloe and Aaron sat across Sydney and Mr. and Mrs. Parker filled the two last seats. Perfection just like my mom wanted.
The food was brought in, we shared the grace and dug in.
"So Sydney, Damien tells me you're hoping to major in Economics?" His mom said breaking the silence.
Sydney looked up and smiled, "Yes, I would, Economics has always been quite easy for me, I thought, why not pursue it as a career? besides, I could snatch myself many job opportunities in the field"
Well said. My girl is smart.
My mom beamed at her, "She's a bright one Grace"
"I thank God everyday" Mrs. Parker said.
"What's your relationship with my son, Sydney?" My father said all of a sudden. I knew he couldn't control himself.
"He uhh...he's umm.. he's my" Sydney stuttered.
"She's my girlfriend dad" I answered for her.
"I believe the young girl could've answered for herself, or am I wrong Ms. Knight?" He retorted and my mom cautioned him.
"Yes sir, I apologize" she said with her head down.
"Don't you think whatever is going on between you two will distract you from your goal Damien? You're taking over the family Business in less than a year, and given past situations, this could be another excuse for you to-"
"Enough Dad. I'm not a kid anymore, I know what I'm doing, can't you just let it go and move on?!" I spoke angrily.
"After what happened with them, I can't let it go! You need to stop acting so foolishly and impulsively and stay focused Damien! The future of our company is in your hands so you need to man up and stop chasing these little pathetic girls who'd distract you!" He boomed and the whole room went silent.
I threw the napkin on the plate, "I've lost my appetite" And I walked out of the house.
