chaeyoung sat weakly on her bed, being propped up by pillows and covered in several blankets. crumples of tissue paper were lying around her room as her tiny nose was now a shade of rose red.

jennie came into the room, holding a glass of warm water and a few pills. she sighed as she glanced at the younger one sulking on her bed miserably.

chaeyoung had been feeling playful a few days earlier. when rain was splintering down the sky and wind was howling, she (stupidly) decided to dance and scream in the rain when no one was watching. without a doubt, she was down with high fever and a sore throat the next day.

her roommate and best friend, jennie, has been taking care of her for the past two days. jungkook and jimin came to visit once. jimin took his girl out for a date while jungkook stayed behind to look after chaeyoung for a day before leaving for soccer practice. chaeyoung has been upset for being unable to attend his practices.

jennie sat down on the bed and gave chaeyoung her medicine. holding a thermometer near the latter's forehead, jennie's forehead creased as she read the temperature.

" 38 degrees," jennie sighed, flicking chaeyoung's forehead, earning a yelp from the younger one. " thats what you get for playing in the rain."

chaeyoung pouted and looked like she was about to cry.

" but today is jungkook's soccer tournament. i can't miss it! its really important to him. he's been worrying over me for the past few days. i need to be there to support him!"

jennie calmed chaeyoung down before replying, " but you're sick, chaey. you still have fever and you can barely stand up! you know how frail your physique is."

chaeyoung slumped down as she begged, " please, eonni. let me see him."

" no can do. i promised him that i would take care of you!"

on the other side of the university campus, the saints and the el hawks were warming up for their tournament. people started showing up on the once peaceful field.

the university is famous for their elaborate range of clubs, societies and clusters of students who are engaged in co-curricular activities after school.

the most popular sport is soccer. due to the competition between the two most prominent soccer teams, saint d'tamia and el hawkins, they have two separate soccer teams with separate coaches. hence, one either joins the saints or the el hawks.

the captains of the two soccer teams are well-built and good-looking. the whole female population in the university are under their spell.

while the captain of the saints is under chaeyoung's spell.

jungkook has been upset all day, including the day before and two days before. chaeyoung was down with high fever and he couldn't spend time with her. she can't watch his tournament and he has been worried sick for her health. he even scolded her for playing around in the rain.

the tournament is about to start. he glanced at his phone for any messages, but saw none.

" she must be asleep," jungkook sighed. that's ok. as long as she gets well soon.

as both teams were about to enter the field, the captain of the el hawks, jungkook's all time rival, park chanyeol, sneered at him.

" if i win this game, jeon, you will abolish your soccer team and i will date park chaeyoung."

jungkook narrowed his eyes. this disgusting prick has been eyeing his girlfriend and soccer team for a while. his hands curled into fists as he thought of chaeyoung leaving him for another man.

instead of knocking the light out of chanyeol, jungkook answered, " but if i win, i get to keep my girlfriend and kick your balls."

as chanyeol was about to throw hands, the commentator outside announced, " let us all welcome, saint d'tamia and el hawkins!"

a booming round of applause echoed thorughout the field. the teams got to their positions.

PHEEEEEEEEEE!

the tournament has officially begun.

the saints were on fire as they sprinted across the field, but the el hawks were no joke as well.

soon, they were head-on with a 2-2.

sweat rolled down jungkook's face as he panted heavily. as he was running to receive the ball, he tripped and fell down on the grass field.

loud gasps could be heard from the audience. jungkook winced at the impact.

he was close to giving up. his heart was heavy with worry for chaeyoung and disappointing his team members. he never felt so helpless before.

just then, a loud squeal distracted everyone in the field.

jungkook turned his head around.

he saw chaeyoung holding a megaphone, wrapped in layers of jackets and a white mask englufing her small face. he saw jennie running towards chaeyoung, seemingly out of breath.

just then, chaeyoung's croaky (but still sweet) voice echoed in the field.

" JEON JUNGKOOK! GET OFF THE GROUND AND KICK SOME ASS!"

chatters erupted in the field.

" isn't that park chaeyoung?"

" she's the goddess of the campus!"

" omg, is she captain jeon's girlfriend?"

jungkook broke into a wide smile as he stared at his girlfriend lovingly. though his happiness didn't last long as he saw chaeyoung slump down in jennie's arms.

pain surged through his heart. with a determined look on his face, he stood up from the ground and sprinted into the on-going game.

the ball was currently under the mercy of chanyeol. jungkook effortlessly dodged the el hawks as he swooped the ball away from chanyeol. before chanyeol could react, jungkook aimed the ball towards the goal and gave it a flying kick.

everyone stopped as they eyed the ball travelling through the air...

GOAL

cheers erupted in the field as applauses and whistles could be heard. the saints have won!

teammates went over and lifted their captain up on their shoulders. jungkook took the heavy gold trophy in his arms as he lifted it up, the smile never leaving his face.

just then, he saw chaeyoung stumbling into the grass field with the help of jennie. he immediately jumped off and rushed to her. when she was about to fall again, jungkook took her by the waist as she leaned into his chest. jungkook's heart ached as he felt the hotness radiating from chaeyoung's body.

chaeyoung smiled and whispered tenderly to him, " you did it."

jungkook smiled before kissing the crown of her head, " its all because of you, baby."

chaeyoung glared playfully at jungkook as she whined, " i had to run out of my dorm when eonni was busy with the dishes. all for you, you know?"

jungkook laughed as he hugged her tighter, " stupid. you should've stayed indoors. youre burning hot."

chaeyoung replied tiredly, " i would give the world to see you play."

the field applauded again as they watched the couple. the most popular male in the campus staring lovingly at the most beautiful female in the university. they were no doubt, the 'it' couple.

watching them from afar, chanyeol huffed as he stormed away, " unbelievable. utterly unbelievable!"

jungkook handed the trophy carefully to chaeyoung. she held it tightly as she slowly began to lose consciousness and fall asleep.

jungkook lifted her up bridal styled as he brought her back to her dorm, wanting to cuddle with the person he had been missing for the past few days.
