"Okay...just suck it in..." My friend, Stephanie, says as she zips my dress up. I give out a little chuckle.
"What is funny about fitting into a 0? You should be serious and insanely happy." She tells me.
"Nothing." She has no idea.
"Okay turn around." She says as I turn around and see the dark dark red colored dress. It is long and has a synched bust. It has a matching shawl. "Wow. You are so getting that."
"I don't know..." I say. My phone buzzes and I immediately grab it.
"Another boy toy?"
"You have no idea..." I mumble looking at the text message: Meet you at your house tonight. I'll bring food.
Yes, you will, I think.
"What even happens to the boys you date? Seems like you have a new one every week, and then they just disappear!" She throws her hands in the air. "Why can't you just be single?
"I need boys to survive." I say honestly and smile at her suspiciously.
"Uh huh...and after you are done with these 'necessary boys' you don't just think to give them my number? What if you have dated my future husband?" The expression on her face is so serious that you have to laugh at her.
"They don't really want to have anything to do with me when we break up so I find it wisest to not send them to anyone..." I lie.
"Sheesh. So you go through this whole breakup sequence every week and don't shed a tear. Sounds intense." She says. "Either you are really good at hiding your feelings, hate every single one of these guys, or aren't telling me something..." She hums the last choice.
"Karen...think of my relationships as one-night stands." I say. She furrows her eyesbrows so I explain, "Once I am done with these guys, they just leave. There is no love or feelings okay?" I try breaking it down for her. And before she can quetion me further I say, "Yeah, I think you are right. This dress is fine."

"I'm home!" I hum when I step inside my house. I wave goodbye to Karen who is still inside her car. She waves back and then backs out.
"Semira, finally!" My mother rushes over to me. "We have a guest."
"Wha-who?" I say, but just then we are in front of a man who looks like kind of a soul-sucker himself.
"Hello Semira. I am so pleased to make your aquaintance." He bows my head and kisses my hand. He has dark hair and red-looking eyes. His skin is not white but rather an almost tanned color.
"Hey..." I furrow my eyesbrows. "And what's your name?"
"Aeron." He answers. My father seems a little uncomfortable with the situation an finally intrudes.
"Aeron is... an old friend." He says which gives me little to no information. I nod politely. "I invited him to the ball."
"Oh." I say lamely.
"He will be your date." My dad says. Then he leans in and whispers in my ear. "Don't hurt him, he's one of us." I nod knowingly. Incubi are male versions of us. We cannot get what we need from them but it is safe to kiss them, be intimate, all the actions we cannot perform with regular people, or any other creature.
"What color is your dress?" He asks. I thought it a weird question to ask.
"Red." I answer.
"I need to get a new tie." He says. "Excuse me." Then he leaves and shortly after I hear the door shut.
"You got me a date?" I ask my mother.
"You need to start getting serious with dating. I know you've dated a couple times before but I think you'll find this boy quite charming..." My mother says. "Our kind need to marry early, so people stop being suspicious of our disappearing boyfriends."
"I don't want to find people charming. I want to do what I want. I want to be by myself!" I let my emotions erupt leaving my mother speechless. I grab my dress bag and charge upstairs.
When I got upstairs I check the clock. It reads 5:45. I figure my food will be coming soon, carrying his idea of food. I smile at the thought. I decide to spice the place up.
I hop out to my bathroom and snatch some candles. I place them stategically around the room and then make my bed. The room already starts to smell of Lavender. And then I wait.
About an hour later he arrives. I sneak him up to my room and immediately sit him down on my bed.
"You hungry? I got-" I cut him off pressing my mouth against him and sucking in. He seems resistant at first but then I spot my hands swollen with black veins which seems to be consuming him. I break away, just before I know he'll start to feel anything.
"I'm not really that hungry." I climb on top of him. "You?"
"I was...but I think I'm fine." He seems to think this is clever. I smile and take off my shirt exposing a lacy black bra. I follow his eyes which seem to be all over me. I slap his face a little harder than placefully and dive in for the feast.

Laying down his head on the sheets, I get up. He's dead too, and I'm satisfied.
