' just like end of the world times, ay? '

Under mounting pressure, several high-ranking members from the U.S. Department of Energy have admitted involvement in the death and cover-up of Hawkins resident Barbara Holland who died due to exposure to an experimental chemical asphyxiant, which had leaked from the grounds of the lab. We sent our own April Kline to Hawkins to speak to residents, residents who told us they thought they lived in a safe town. The kind of town where, they say, nothing ever happens.

Ashley sighed as she turned the tv off.
"How about that, huh? We did all that hard work for no credit whatsoever." Steve stared at the blank screen. He rested his arm around Ashley on the sofa as she sat back down.
"Hey, at least we aren't dead. That's probably the greatest credit we can get. The fact we're alive to tell the story." She smiled.
"I'm sorry you got stuck in that mess." Steve looked at her, and moved her hair behind her ear. Ashley got flashbacks, and smirked.
"If I had never been a nosey neighbour, you wouldn't be sat here right now. I'm happy it happened. Kind of." Ashley said.
"I bet I would've realised your brilliance if that never happened." Steve frowned.
"Be realistic here, Steve." Ashley raised her eyebrows. The doorbell rang, and Ashley jumped up to answer it.
"I'd better not be a third wheel." Jess said.
"Hi to you too, Jess." Ashley laughed. Jess sat down next to Ashley as Steve looked at his watch.
"I'd better be going anyways. Dustin needs picking up for the Snowball." Steve kissed Ashley goodbye as he ran out, and Jess gave Ashley a funny look as soon as he left.
"What-" Ashley frowned.
"Um... you need to go to the Snowball." Jess squealed.
"Um... no I don't. Steve isn't even going. He's just dropping off Dustin." Ashley said.
"Okay, but I'll drop you off, you get in his car, and then you go on the most spontaneous yet romantic date. It's happening. Don't shake your head at me." Jess grabbed Ashley's arm as she pulled her into her bedroom.

"There he is." Jess pointed. Ashley ran up to Steve's car, and knocked on his window, jumping Steve out of his skin. She ran around to the passenger seat, and smiled.
"You look incredible." He stammered. "But why?" He laughed.
"Jess. She wanted me to do this. She thought it would be spontaneous and romantic. I'll get out now." Ashley went to open the car door, but was stopped by Steve. He put his hand on her cheek, and gently pulled her close as they kissed, her hands resting on his shoulder, his hands delicately placed on her waist, even though her scar had pretty much healed now.
"Just like end of the world times, ay?" Ashley whispered.
"Just like end of the world times." Steve repeated.
