"How do you know about the boardwalk?" Scott asked.
Becka refrained from answering while they moved quickly towards his car.
"Did he perhaps tell you about it?" he inquired further with a puzzled look on his face.
They both got in the car now and he sped off.
"I followed him one night" Becka confessed while glancing at her watch.
"You followed him? Did he perhaps see you?" Scott inquired as he tried to contain the startled look on his face.
"No...I just followed him and saw that he parked there and stayed for a while. I left before he saw me, but would that really be a problem if I just wanted to see if he was ok and then left?" Becka went on as she glanced over in time to see the relieved look on his face.
'Why did she follow him? What if he had seen her? How will he react to me taking her there now?' Scott thought to himself.
"You seem to know him well and share secrets together" Becka continued with a little jealousy detected in her tone.
She then turned her face towards the window as she sighed heavily.
Upon picking this up, Scott reassured her that Zaire cared about her, but when she wanted him to say more, he just cut the conversation off abruptly.
'What was he hiding? Is there something going on with Zaire that I shouldn't know about?' she thought as the rest of the journey was travelled in silence.
When they arrived at the boardwalk, they saw Zaire's car, but he was not inside.
'He must be on the boardwalk' she thought.
She was about to walk off when Scott held onto her hand.
"I think we should return as you have seen that he is ok" he said.
Becka stared at him in disbelief as for a moment she thought that she was detecting some jealousy from Scott.
"What? How can we tell that he is ok by just looking at his car?!" Becka exclaimed.
"Don't you think it's a reason he never told you about the boardwalk or brought you here before?" Scott inquired.
"Maybe he forgot to bring it up. He's always busy so maybe that's why" she continued.
"You really don't know anything about Zaire do you?" Scott inquired before fastening his grip.
He then proceeded to lead her back to the car, but she was putting up some resistance.
"Let go! I'm not leaving until I see that he is ok! What if he fell into the water? We can't just leave!" she exclaimed.
Scott sighed as he saw how persistent she was being. He then reluctantly let go of her hand as he saw that it would be futile to stop her and he didn't want to say anything before Zaire did.
"Please be careful, this is his personal space" he said as he watched her walking towards the boardwalk.
She walked for about a minute until she saw him standing there with his back facing her. Without thinking, she ran towards him and hugged him from behind, forgetting completely what Scott had said to her.
Startled by the gesture, he quickly removed her hands and pushed her away immediately as he was supposed to be the only one who was there. The push made her lose her balance suddenly as she wasn't expecting it.
"Ah!" she exclaimed while falling.
Upon realizing who it was, he tried to stretch out his hand to catch her. However, he was a few steps too late and she fell into the lake with a loud splash.
