Happy New Years Everyone! (Sorry it's late)

Parseltongue- Harry speaking ; snakes speaking

'mind talking/ communicating'

**************

A few weeks had past since Dudley's birthday, and Harry and Sicily had become extremely close. Sicily was a very smart snake and sometimes helped Harry around the house when the Dursleys were away. Though most nights she went off to hunt, using their bond they could still talk. Sicily was like an older sister to Harry, and comforted him when he was beaten. She despised his relatives, but Harry held her back, scared what could happen to her if they saw her crawling around. Sicily also entertained Harry with stories from the magical world, for she knew something was about to come soon. One morning when Harry had finished putting the breakfast on the table, the doorbell rang.

"Dudley, get the mail!" Vernon shouted.

"Make Harry get it!" Dudley shouted back.

"Boy, get the mail!"

"Yes, sir," Harry said in a quiet voice. Harry opened the door and stepped outside. He picked up the letters and went through them. But when he got to the last one, there in old parchment, was a letter, for him! When he read where it came from, he gasped. He quickly looked around, then hissed,

Sicily, come quick!

What isss it, Hatchling. Sicily came out of the bushes.

Look, a letter for me! Quickly, bring it to my cupboard, and make sure they don't see it. Sicily gingerly took the letter in her mouth and continued on her way to the cupboard. Harry then quickly took the rest inside and ate his small breakfast quickly. He then started to work on his chores, got a few slaps and punches, then retired for the night in his cupboard. He called Sicily, who came with the letter. It read,

Harry couldn't believe it! He would finally get to get out of this place! He glanced over at Sicily, who had a knowing look in her eyes

Harry couldn't believe it! He would finally get to get out of this place! He glanced over at Sicily, who had a knowing look in her eyes.  A sudden realization come to him.

'You knew all along, huh.' Harry thought.

'Yep. Now, do you want to go or not?' She was draped around his shoulders, looking at the letter.

'Is that even a question? Of course I want to go!' Harry quickly read the rest of the letter.

Harry read the last parts and his heart dropped. He couldn't bring Sicily!?!

'What do I do now?' Harry cried.

'Well... it isss sssaying to sssend a letter. Maybe you could asssk them to come, then you can talk.'

'I'll try. I really want you to be with me. You are my first friend.' Sicily hissed affectionately, then closed her eyes, Harry stroking her. He let a wide smile play at his lips; the first in a very long time. Harry took out some paper and a pencil and wrote,

Dear Minerva McGonagall,

I have received the acceptance letter, and I would be really willing to go. But, there is a problem. I don't know much about magic at all, because my relatives despise it. If you can, could you or somebody else come over to my house and give me an insight? But please don't tell the Dursleys I got the Hogwarts letter. They will never let me go.

Thank you,

Harry Potter

Harry showed this to Sicily, who nodded her approval. Sicily quietly slithered out, then came back in, telling him that there was an owl outside. The next day, when Harry went to tend the garden, he clutched the letter in his hand and looked around. The owl was still sitting there. He held out the letter to it, who grabbed it and flew off. Harry let out a small smile, then quickly turned back to his expressionless mask. Unfortunately, Harry's day did not go well after that. Vernon had come home after a bad day, and when Harry spilled a bit of his orange juice, he took his anger out on him. When he threw the boy in the cupboard after a few hours, Harry was in so much pain to hurt to keep his eyes open. As he slipped into unconsciousness, Harry wished he could get away from them forever.
