The bell rang and soon enough students came rushing out their last period classrooms eager to leave this place for the rest of the day. Elliott sighed; peering over at Renee's locker. His heart ached at the loneliness he's felt without her around.
He rushes his way toward the dorms, tossing his bag on top of bed and quickly changing into more comfortable clothing; fixing his hair a little bit to look a little more presentable. "Damn, I look good." he says cockily, checking himself out once more before heading out the door and down the stairs to the girl's floor and toward Renee's door.
Elliott gulps before going to knock on the door...and as usual there's no response. "Renee?" he shouts hoping that by some miracle she'll finally respond back with that cute voice of her's. He knew this would happen, he shouldn't have gotten his hopes up. Elliott sighs placing his hand on the door handle; shocked to see that Renee's door was unlocked this time.
"Hello? Renee? Anyone here?" he shouts once more, opening the door just slightly. He hesitates not wanting to enter without her permission, but...he did want to see her and see if she's been doing well. Elliott takes one deep breath before deciding to go inside. "I'm coming in." he softly says, looking around. The lights were off and it was very chilly.
"Why the hell is it so cold? What is this? The North Pole?"
He walks around trying to find Renee or at least a light switch so he could see a bit better since it was so dark. He feels his way around with the wall beside him, he kept using the wall as a guide until his hand came upon something very familiar, something that felt like a switch and then flicked it upward turning the lights on. He could finally see. "Thank god."
Elliott looked over beside him to find out that he was standing in front of Renee's bedroom. Anxiety starts to creep inside him. His breathing heavy as he placed his hand on the door handle. He was scared of what was behind this door, thinking of the worst possible case scenarios in his head. His heart raced as he sucked everything up and quickly pushing the door open.
A breath of relief came out when he saw Renee alive, watching television with a quilt wrapped around her. She looked over and her eyes widened in pain at who was standing before her.
"Renee...I-I'm sorry about what I did to you but you don't know how glad I am to see that you're okay."
Renee continues to stare at him in shock before coming to her senses and hiding herself under the quilt she was once wrapped in causing Elliott to chuckle. He makes his way over pulling the quilt off to reveal a red faced Renee, her facial expression causing Elliott's heart to skip a beat. She was just as cute as the day he first laid eyes on her.
It was love at first sight...but he knew he wasn't the right one for her. He never has and never will be and that was something he had convinced himself for the past three years.
"Elliott...why did you...?" Renee says trying to keep her mind off the tears that were trying to make their way out her eyes. She couldn't seeing him. The pain of rejection creeping back into her heart, the sadness, the fear. It's all coming back to her. Elliott doesn't respond as he saw her watery eyes. He softly smiles at her taking off his shoes before making his way into her bed beside her.
"Elliot...what are you-"
Renee stopped mid sentence when Elliott wrapped his strong arms around her. She attempts to struggle her way out but he didn't budge. She quickly gives up; hesitantly resting her head on his chest, the beats of his heart calming her as she silently cried against him, her hands gripping on his shirt. Elliott remained silent as he let her get her emotions out, occasionally running his hand through her silky smooth dark hair.
Soon enough she lifts her head from chest, her nose and eyes as red as a cherry, Elliott strokes her cheek with his fingers, it was a little wet from the tears but that didn't bother him. She was so beautiful he almost couldn't contain himself. His eyes making contact with hers as he started to lean in closer quickly catching himself and stopping what he was about to do. He almost let his emotions completely take over.
He couldn't mess up, not after all these years of trying to be a good friend toward Renee. Even if she felt the same way. He wanted Renee to find someone better than him, he was nothing but a narcissistic scumbag whose hobby was to flirt with the girls around school most of the time. She'd just be wasting her time if she were with someone like him. She deserved better.
