"How's your Visa?" Kamiyu asks Ann as they continue to work on their patients for tonight.
It is currently 8 PM but the patients keep coming in and out of the medical wing of the Beach. Kamiyu had trouble keeping up with the number of patients.
Talking to Ann was the only thing keeping her sane. She felt like she was going to crazy or possibly even collapse without talking. This was on occasion only though. It was only when the patient given to her was either awake and not talking or couldn't talk because they were unconscious.
"I still have 4 days, so it's okay." Ann answers, patching up one of the wounded patients assigned to her.
Just then, a massive amount of people rolled in a guy wearing a sunset printed board shorts. He didn't have a top on and Kamiyu looks to see that his leg was bleeding.
"Help!" A guy screamed.
"We need urgent help!" A girl cried.
Kamiyu nods at her current patient, silently telling her that everything was done. She proceeds to go near the patient that was just rolled in.
"What happened?" Kamiyu asks as she Kamiyu asks as she analyses the wound on the guy's leg.
"The game," The girl who helped roll him in answers her question with a stutter.
"I know it's the game!" Kamiyu shouts at her in frustration. "But what was it? How did it happen?"
Kamiyu felt sorry for the girl, but this was urgent. She needed to know the details as soon as possible. There's a life needing to be saved at the moment. Her body seemed to shut down and cut off the world, her instincts kicking in.
The girl looks at her, her eyes panicking. She then proceeds to answer the question while stuttering. "It was in a warehouse. They were all sorts of machines, his leg got caught in one."
"How long has he been bleeding?" Kamiyu asks.
It was important to know how long he's been bleeding for. This was one of the first things to know when there's an open wound on a person, especially this deep.
"The whole way from the game arena to when we arrived here." The girl answers again, bawling her eyes out now.
"I need an estimate time!" Kamiyu shouts again. She needed answers fast. She doesn't know how many ounces and litres of blood he's lost already.
"I don't know," The girl stutters. "Maybe 30 to 40 minutes."
Kamiyu finally finished examining how deep the wound was. She calls Ann over, stopping all operations and services happening in the medical wing.
"Apply pressure on his leg, just like this." Kamiyu presses on the open wound on the guy's leg as she shows Ann how to do it. "Prepare for ER. We have to operate on his leg. I'll be back in a few minutes, talk to him."
Kamiyu was about to leave the room when she remembered something important to tell Ann. "Just keep pressure on the wound. Do not tie a tourniquet around it, okay? That's only going to cause more damage."
All of Kamiyu's words were rushed. She wasn't panicking, but she knew she needed to move fast. She hurriedly tries to get out of the room before a hand stops her.
"Where are you going?" The girl who is with the guy cries. She grips Kamiyu's arm tightly. "Aren't you going to save him? That's your job."
"Shut the fuck up!" Kamiyu shouts at her, removing her arm harshly from the girl's grasp. She didn't care about being professional now, she wasn't getting paid anyway. This is the Borderland after all.
