You immediately noticed something was very wrong when you came home from work. Harry was sitting behind his computer and he didn’t even look up when you entered the living room. And when you walked over to him to give him a kiss, he didn’t even flinch, so you just ended up giving him a kiss on the cheek. ‘Are you okay?’ You asked while undoing yourself from your coat and shoes. And when he didn’t reply, it was clear to you that he was mad about something. This was not Harry’s usual behaviour. ‘Harry? What’s wrong?’ You asked again, with no response. But then you saw the magazine lying on the table. And you understood right away what bothered him. ‘Harry… This magazine is-…’ But he cut you off from the moment you pronounced the word. ‘The magazine is what?’ He yelled, while standing up. And you wear surprised about how he was acting without even knowing what was going on. ‘The magazine is lying? Is that what you wanted to say? I don’t care what the magazine says. I care about you standing on that cover with a dude I don’t even know about!’ He had bottled this up for quite some hours. That was for sure. ‘Harry that’s not a random dude. That’s-…’. ‘Oh no, of course that’s not a random dude! It’s probably your new love interest.’ He threw his hands in the air while moving from the one side of the room, to the other. ‘What the hell? No! Why would you even think that!’ You exclaimed, getting angry as well. ‘If you just let me explain… I-…’ But again, he interrupted you. And you were kind of getting sick of it. ‘I don’t even know what you can explain about that. You going out with a dude, without me knowing anything from it!’ His eyes met yours and he looked so outraged. You had never saw him like this in the two years you were together. ‘You know what, Y/N. Just go. I can’t talk about this right now. Just go.’ He growled, walking away from you to the kitchen. And it was in that moment the doorbell rang. You stood there, on the edge of crying, and it was not the timing for anyone to be at your front door. But you had no choice, so you gathered yourself and went to see who was there. ‘William!’ You exclaimed looking in the eyes of the man from the magazine. And you forgot he was planning on stepping by today. You immediately noticed his little son standing next to him. ‘Hi, Y/N!’ William said, handing you a clothing bag. ‘Here is your bridesmaid dress, I told you about! Laurel is convinced that you’ll love it.’ You heard Harry’s footsteps entering the living room again. ‘I have a little favour to ask you though. I really need to go to the church for some last minute stuff. Are you free to watch Thomas for an hour?’ He smiled sheepishly. It would be a great opportunity to give Harry his time. Although you kind of had the idea he already figured out what was going on by now. ‘Of course… Yeah. I was just planning on leaving for a walk. You want to go to the park, Thomas?’ You tried to sound happy, and it kind of worked. But you felt horrible. Harry’s face from a couple of minutes ago, telling you to go, was still lingering on your mind. Thomas, on the other hand, nodded excited. ‘Okay… Thank you so much, Y/N.’ William said while kissing your cheek and leaving the two of you behind. It was obvious he was in a rush. ‘Okay, Thomas. I’m going to take my coat.’ You said to the little boy, when you turned around and grabbed your jacket and shoes. And when you were ready to go, you met Harry’s eyes. And he stood there, silent and still, staring at you with such a defeated and sad look. You almost wanted to go and wrap your arms around him. But you figured that was not really something he deserved right now. ‘I’ll be back to gather my stuff.’ You said instead, before you walked to Thomas again, went outside and shut the door behind you. And you couldn’t shake of Harry’s miserable look.
An hour later you met William outside your house. He picked up Thomas and gave you a little bit more information about Laurel’s bachelorette party of next week. You said your goodbyes, and when they left, you sighed deeply before entering your house, not really sure what to expect. You found Harry, sitting at the dinner table, his hands buried in his hair. Now he looked up immediately when he heard you entering the room. And you just stood there for a moment. Eyes meeting, and not saying a word. You took in all of his emotions and you figured this last hour had been a torture for him, when you saw his guilty and desperate eyes. You waited a while for him to say anything, but he didn’t spoke once. So you nodded slowly before you started moving. ‘I’ll go take my stuff.’ You said softly. And he answered immediately, slowly and thoughtful. ‘No, you don’t.’ He spoke out, while standing up and grabbing your wrist gently, preventing you from moving further. ‘I forgot. Okay? I forgot. I didn’t know he was William.’ And it was indeed true. Harry did know about William and Laurel getting married. William was an old friend of yours. But he and Harry had never met before. But you had mentioned it to him a couple of times that you were helping them with organizing the wedding. ‘I could’ve told you if you let me.’ You muttered, staring at the ground. And he lifted your head by placing his finger on your chin. ‘I know. And I’m sorry. I was jealous. I was hurt. And I thought you cheated on me. And I know it’s so wrong for me to even think that kind of stuff. Because I know you would never do something like that. I don’t know what I was thinking. I probably thought to much. Because you weren’t here. And I started to imagine things. And It was just not okay…’ He explained. And you saw a glimpse of how he had felt the hours before you got home. Harry could be insecure once in a while. And now he definitely had a moment like that. ‘Don’t go… I don’t want you too. I can’t lose you… Not like this. Not ever.’ He whispered softly, full of hurt and hope. You were never planning on actually going. You would never be able to do that, when he looked like this. ‘I won’t leave you.’ You whispered back. ‘I would never leave you.’ And you cupped his cheek with your hand. He closed his eyes while feeling your touch on his skin, when a small smile appeared on his face. ‘I love you so much…’ He breathed out while pulling you into his chest and holding you so close and tight. And you felt your heart going back to normal again. Because for the last hour it had felt like breaking. You weren’t sure what to do if it actually ever did. You didn’t think you would survive that. And Harry wouldn’t either. He reached for your lips and it felt amazing to finally kiss your other half again. And it was then, that you realized you would never have to survive your breaking heart. Because Harry wouldn’t be the one breaking it. Harry would be the one to guard it and help you back up if someone else ever did. ‘I love you too…’
