The dress had been squeezing your curves all night, but it made you look so good. Your feet ached from the pain your 4-inch heels were giving you, but they made your legs look miles long. You were pretty sure your perfect curls had all fallen out of your hair—but it was all worth it.
The boys had been nominated for their first set of Grammy awards, yes plural, meaning they were up for Best Single for Best Song Ever, Album of the Year with their amazing new album Midnight Memories, and most importantly Artist(s) of the Year. Yeah, they’ve been to award shows, won plenty of them in fact, but there was something about even the pure thought of being able to attend music’s proudest night sent chills up each boy’s spine. Everyone had their eyes on you and Niall as you walked down the red carpet arm in arm. Usually the boys weren’t allowed to have their dates walk with them, but management let this one slide.
You joined the other girlfriends, taking your seat behind your boyfriend and his band mates, which was the catch for you being able to walk with him, you couldn’t sit together.
A stupid grin never left any of your faces the entire night, Niall turned around every commercial break to talk to you, make sure you were ok or if you needed anything. You had to admit, hit looked extra hot tonight. He wore those stupid glasses you still weren’t even sure if he needed them or not. His hair was quaffed perfectly with the freshly shaven sides. The tint of brown showed, residing in his roots.
“Earth to Y/N….Helloooo” He tapped your knee, bringing you back to your reality you still couldn’t believe was yours.
“What’s up babe?” You asked your stunning boyfriend.
“Well were up next, the last award of the night! Have you been paying attention at all tonight?” He laughed, grabbing your hand and squeezing tight. You could tell how nervous he was.
“Niall,” You leaned forward, resting your free hand against his reddened cheek, “You’ve got this one in the bag! You’re already 2 for 3 and in about 5 minutes, you boys will make it 3 for 3!” You finished by pecking his lips just as the voice over sounded, signaling the return from commercial break. You grinned at Niall and he turned back around in his chair. You were so happy and proud of these boys words could not explain. You happiness, however, could only account for a fraction of Niall’s or any of the other boys, as that stupid quirky smile never left his face.
“Welcome back! Unfortunately, we have reached the end of the show. But, we have one more award to give out! The award for Artist of the Year! Here are the nominees…” The host spoke to the crowd. Everyone clapped as the nominees appeared on the screen, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Drake, Justin Timberlake and One Direction—of course you screamed a little louder for the boys. “And the winner is…” The crowd got silent in anticipation, “One Direction!” The host yelled into the microphone and you all shot up out of your seats. They did it, they beat all those other artists, proved everyone wrong who said they were just a bubblegum-pop boy band with no hopes of staying together. Niall turned to you, smiling ear to ear, you leaned down hug and kiss him in congratulations, watching and cheering as they made their way up to get their award.
“Wow, I can’t believe this!” Liam began in the microphone. Your eyes stayed on Niall, his locked on yours, you watching as they each thanked the audience, their families and especially their fans.
“Yeh, just like Liam said, we wouldn’t be here without ya! You’re all amazin’! And I’d also like ta thank Y/N my beautiful girl, tank ya for everythin’. Love ya darlin’.” A bright blush appeared on your cheeks and your shook your head at your cute boyfriend. The crowd screamed again and the boys were escorted off the stage. The host thanked everyone once again for a wonderful night and said goodnight to the camera and audience. Everyone got up to leave and you received a text from Niall saying he’d meet you in the lobby.
