Kagura and Sougo sat back to back behind a giant broken pillar. War was raging terribly, Edo was losing. They were all fighting a war that couldn't be won against the amantos.

Kagura was breathing heavily as she hastily started stitching Sougo's gash in his abdomen.

All Sougo could do in that moment was bite down the pain and stare into her frantic clear blue eyes that were so full of fear for his life.

"Kagura," he called her lightly, he never realized that his voice had turned so soft and light from being tired.

Frantic clear blue eyes clashed with his and he was reminded of that exhilarating feeling that he had felt the first time they met and their eyes clashed.

"Sougo? Is something wrong? Is somewhere else bleeding? Don't leave me, please! I can't fight alone!" she whispered, frantically.

Sougo sighed softly before cupping her cheek.

"Remember the promise we made about not losing to anyone else? I think we won't be able to keep that promise anymore, Kagura. So, before anything happens to any of us, I want to come clean to you," Sougo said, his crimson eyes never leaving her clear blue orbs.

  "I love you," he confessed.

As soon as those words reached Kagura's ears, tears started to stream down her face. Her clear blue eyes were muddled with tears and her lips quivered. Soft sobs escaped her lips and she wrapped he arms around him.

"I love you too," Kagura replied, crying into his chest and they held each other closer.

What a mess they were in. What a terrible mess. They were fighting to protect, casting their lives to the side but still, they wanted to live as well, they wanted to live as a family. So many hopes and dreams they had, about children and hilarious family arguments between Sougo and Kamui, alone with Gintoki and Umibozu. There were even imagines of Gintoki and Hijikata arguing as well. Yet all of those dreams were shattered when they realized that they were fighting a losing war.

"I actually thought of having kids with you," Kagura murmured. They were well hidden enough to at least share whatever hopes and dreams they had to fantasize about before they died together.

"How many?" Sougo asked as he caressed her hair.

"Ten... Five boys and five girls... The first two are definitely boys and the third and fourth are girls, fifth is a boy and sixth, a girl, then another two boys then two girls," Kagura murmured.

"The first is Souichirou... And the second is..." Sougo started and let her continue.

"Kagetoki," Kagura named their second son.

"Kaguya," Sougo named their third born, a girl.

"Sakuya," Kagura named the fourth born, also a girl.

"Shiro," Sougo named the fifth born son.

"Kanna," Kagura named the sixth born daughter.

"Kanjiro," Sougo named the seventh born son.

"Sekien," Kagura named the eigth born son.

"Sayaka," Sougo named the ninth born daughter.

"Kyouko," Kagura named the last, the tenth born, daughter.

"You really all this all in mind for this long? And you thought of the kanjis as well too?" Sougo asked with a smile as he looked down at the woman who laid on his chest.

"Yeah... I fell in love with you over the years and well... I guess it natural for me to start thinking about babies and families and I just started creating baby names along the way," Kagura said.

Sougo smiled, pulling her in closer. Just then, an arrow shot at the pillar next to them, narrowing missing the both of them.

"Damnit!" they both cursed in unison before sending each other longing gazes as they parted with a soft kiss, their first kiss and then left for the battlefield.

The fight went on long. Whenever one was struck down ten more made-up for it. It drove the duo crazy, frustrated and angry.

Three hours in and it looked like the battle wasn't anywhere near stopping. They were dead tired by then.

Back to back, Sougo and Kagura stood. Umbrella and katana the only weapons that they still have to defend themselves. Their weapons were battered just as much as they were bruised.

"I'll see you in Hell," they said to each other after giving each other a glance with a smile.

They jumped into battle, head first and more bloodthirsty than ever caused by their anger towards the enemy.

They were terribly outnumbered. They had managed to run away back to the place where they had first met in this life, under the stairs trees that were so full of life, once upon a time, that we're now wilting and dying.

Clear blue clashed with crimson and they were brought back to that day where they first met in this life. How everything had just clicked and how their heart had beat so fast that their chests hurt. How enthralled they had felt just by the sight of one another.

And with that, they kissed each other, rough, longing and with the lingering promise in that kiss that they will meet eye to eye again in another life where they will fullfil their broken dreams and hopes.

As they kissed, arrows and katanas pierced their back and were sent right through one another.

And as they clung onto each other as they breathed their final breaths, the memories of their past lives flooded into their minds and they were both grateful that at least in this life they had been blessed the chance to meet each other and spend so much time together even if their hopes and dreams to be together as a family were shattered...

They had met each other in this life... Which gave them the hope that they would meet each other their next life...
