chapter ii | boy n girl
Joy. Absolute, pure joy. It was a feeling that Gin was not too familiar with, however at the moment that rare emotion was buzzing through her stitched together heart as the human waitress set down her order on the table deciding the two vampires. The second she had done so, the young raven-nette's spoon was immediately diving into the bowl of chewy, sweet goodness and shovelling the dessert into her mouth as if she were a starved begger.
Hanabusa simply watched as his younger devoured the grass jelly and taro dessert that had only just arrived. It was her third bowl. "Gin, I know this is your favourite kind of dessert, but if you don't slow down you'll choke and if you die while with me Akatsuki will kill me."
The young girl paused midway bringing another spoonful of taro, mochi and sweet potato to her mouth and gave her cousin a blank stare. "If death shall befall me by means of this heavenly creation then I shall happily accept my fate."
The blue eyed blond heaved a defeated sigh. "Everyone might see you as plain and emotionless, but no one would ever have guessed that, you my dear cousin, are truely a giddy child when it comes to Asian sweets." He dramatically gasped as if he were one of those fainting French ladies in paintings. Hanabusa peeked open one of his blue eyes to see that Gin was no longer paying him any attention; busying herself with stuffing her face with the soupy dessert. The blond vampire frowned at having been ignored, but shrugged it off when he caught sight of a light in the young girl's eyes. Well, never mind. She rarely shows positive emotions, I should just let her enjoy White Day like I promised.
Once Gin had her fill of chewy desserts the two vampires left the newly opened establishment, one with a full stomach and the other a lighter wallet.
Hanabusa sighed at the state of his wallet, the sweets were rather expensive seeing how treats from the east were uncommon where the academy was located. "Shall we return to Cross Academy?" The boy sighed, shoving his wallet back into his pockets and looking up to take note of the sky that was beginning to blush a pink and golden peach colour. "Class will be beginning soon."
Gin looked back over her shoulder at her cousin and nodded. She was rather uncharacteristically cheerful after having her fill of sweets. "Okay, we should hurry then so we can change back into our uniforms." They had both opted to change into casual clothes before coming to the small town. Hanabusa sporting a loose button up lazily tucked into white jeans along with a long white coat, and Gin had been dressed up in light jean shorts and billowy blouse. Rima had been wanting to dress the short girl up and saw today as an opportunity to do so.
Throughout the day, Gin had been subconsciously rubbing at her neck in an effort to hide the scar with an angry red from the friction of her hand. This hadn't gone unnoticed by Hanabusa, however the blond spoke not a word of any thoughts he had. I remember uncle telling me not to bring up the past that she has been working hard towards forgetting. The darkness of this world was something Fun learned at far too young of an age, and the frail state she was in when we had first been introduced was all I needed to solidify a reason to protect her. Protect a member of my family. Shrugging off his coat, the cryokinetic vampire draped it over the shoulders of his dear cousin, moving to fix it so that the collar stood up and hid her scars. "It's getting chilly, let's get going before you freeze." With that the blond began to pick up his pace.
Gin stared after her cousin for a moment. He's so odd today. With that fleeting thought, Gin started to walk with fast steps as to follow after the blond and not be left behind.
While in her rush to catch up with her cousin and his long legs, Gin had missed a pair of amber coloured eyes staring after her as she rushed passed. The owner of the innocent gaze started after the raven haired girl until she was out of sight, a confused look overtaking his expression. That girl looks just like mother. But... that's impossible; that girl is one of them. The boy's silent questions were left unanswered and abandoned when a ball of excited fur began to bark and circle the child. Pulling at his coat in the direction of their home.
"Alright Clover," the boy giggled, picking up the pup that was now twice the size it had been when they first met, "let's go home before father does."
「Fate often plays the strangest of games and deals the cruelest of cards」
