"I sought the Lord, and he answered me, he delivered me from all my fears." - Psalms 34:4
POV

Monday came sooner than expected for Kiya. It's almost like the weekend flew by in fast speed. If we were being honest, she wasn't quite ready to return back to school.

"Wake up Kiya, and get ready for school. Last week you were late. I don't want those teachers calling me again." Mama Lou approaching her bed.

"Yes ma'am" thanking God that her mama was there to wake her up.

Mama Lou is Kiya's mama who is also the most Godliest person she knows. She raised Kiya up in church ever since she was one til now. She know Kiya doesn't always pay attention but she likes to see her daughter in the house of the Lord.

Soon after, she got up and walked to her bathroom; She brushed her teeth and washed her face. Once she got back into her room she picked out a shirt that said 'Love' on it and  took out some blue jeans. She completed her routine with reading her Bible. Once she finished she walked down stairs and smelled  fresh cooked food that was coming out of the kitchen.

"Hey mama what you cooking?" Kiya said walking toward to stove. She looked over the slightly big/small breakfast mama Lou whipped up.

"Hey baby, I made some eggs, bacon, and grits for now...you want some toast?" Mama Lou asked walking over to the bread. Once she got to the bread she looked at Kiya waiting for her to say something. She knew Kiya seemed off since Saturday but she decided against it to say anything.

"Ohh, sorry, um..no thanks I think imma just grab what's done and head to school"

Truth is, Kiya did want some toast, but she knew if she stayed longer to wait on the toast she'll be late. Soon, she made her a plate and headed to school.

.......
Around 8:00 AM, Kiya made it to school where she met up with her best friend, Haylee. They had been best friends since the eighth grade, and ever since then they grew closer and closer. Haylee was also a follower of Christ; She encouraged Kiya to get closer to God herself.

"Hey Kiya!" Haylee walked up to her happily

"Heyyyyy bestie! Ready for today." Kiya nudged

"I really don't have a choice." She giggled

Both of the girls walked in the school headed to the cafeteria. Their cafeteria was in the basement area which means they had to go down stairs. "They just had to make this school three stories" Kiya walked laughing.
While walking down stairs they seen most of the football team huddled up blocking the bottom stairs.

"Um, excuse us, sorry but can we get by?" Kiya said staying next to Haylee with her head down.

"Yea you can get by, but you have to say please." Kiya's head instantly shot up to the sound of that voice. She analyzed him from head to toe; his tall structure hovering over her, waves forming through his hair, big brown eyes glistening as they connected with hers, the perfect teeth that blinged like the cartoons. He had on a Polo shirt with Denim blue jeans and some Jordans. As Kiya continued to look over him she suddenly was snapped out of her thoughts.

"Aye, you good? I was just playing...unless you wanted- Lance was cut off.
"I knew you were playing" she chuckled "But my friend and I really need to get by..if that's okay with you?" Kiya smiled

This was harder than she thought, she's never seen him before so obviously he was new. 'Today must be his first day, but how is he already on the football team?'  'why does he keep smirking at me?' 'Maybe if I just go by he won't say anything else.' She went on getting lost in thought.

"Don't you want to know my name?" He smirked

"I'm fine we really hav-   'Brring' The first bell rung stopping Kiya in her sentence. She took that as a sign so, she grabbed Haylee's hand and quickly squeezed by them making their way back up stairs.

Walking toward her class Kiya found herself getting lost in thought over the previous event. 'Ugh, why do I keep replaying it. Maybe I should of said something back and we could of started a conversation or something.' Her mind was going 100 miles per hour of all the things she could of done, or said to keep her from that embarrassing and awkward moment.

"Kiya!" Haylee shouted causing stares to come from everyone they were near.

"Why are you yelling? I'm right next to you." Both giggled

"Girl, I called your name like five times. Why are you so quite? Don't tell me you thinking about what just happened? Who was that anyway?" She wondered, she knew Kiya couldn't know because neither of them have seen him around before, she just wanted to start a conversation.

'Brrring..thank you Jesus' Kiya said silently looking up as the second bell rung for class. She really didn't want to talk about it. She was just ready to get the day over with; the faster the day went, the faster school would be over.

.......
Kiya's POV

As the school day came to an end I noticed that Nash hasn't showed to school today. It wasn't like him, I mean I know the breakup wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst so he can't 'still' be mad.

"Hey, you okay?" Haylee said walking to her car. She has a blue convertible and even though she complains about it sometimes I swear she loves that car.

"Oh, yea I'm fine. Just wondering why Nash didn't show up today."

"Why didn't you call him..he is your boyfriend after all." I gave her an unsure look that noticeably caught her attention.

"Uh oh, why that look?" She walked to me.

"I kinda broke up with him Saturday night.." her eyes went wide staring at me. There was no way I could calm her down after this one.

"Kiya! Whyyy, what happened?" She cried like a toddler.

"You know what happened, I was just tired of putting my feelings out there for them to get stepped on. And I prayed and I asked God to show me a sign months ago, and when Nash cheated again I took that as my sign. I sighed "I thank God that I finally build up the courage to do it because I know he have plans for my life and I'm putting all my trust in him now." To my surprise Haylee smiled..she smiled! I wasn't expecting her to be mad but I for sure was not expecting her to be happy.

"I'm happy for you! Like for real I'm proud of you bestie! I'm glad your trusting in God and letting him guide your life." Walking back to her car "I have to get going cause you know I have to go do chores but, I'm really happy for you. I'll call you when I make it home and you do the same." I waved her goodbye and began to walk to my car.

As I was almost to my car I noticed him, the boy that I talked to on the stairs this morning; he was getting out of practice and you could see the sweat on his face, and might I say he still look cute. When he walked out the gate a black Camaro pulled up to the front, and it look very familiar. The boy got in and as the car looped around to pull out of the parking lot that's when the drivers side came into perfect view, I gasped! Nash.
