Chapter 10- The Holy Grail

The first thing Amanda hears when she walks into Quantico is someone calling her name. "Amanda, is that you sweetheart?" Her head immediately snaps to the side to find Spencer Reid smiling at her sheepishly as his mother, Diana, stands next to him with a large grin on her face. "Oh, it is you! How are you dear? Spencer said you weren't working for the BAU."

"I'm good and I'm not. I work for a different branch of the FBI," she lies smoothly. "I'm so sorry to take Spencer away but I need to speak with him really quickly, is that okay?"

"Of course. You always were such a hard worker." Amanda shoots her a smile before motioning for Spencer to follow her. As soon as they are far enough away, Amanda spins on him with a look of anger and worry on her face. "What the hell were you thinking?!"

"You said that my mom may have talked to him and when I decoded the message I realized it was about my mother. She has information and I thought she might be in danger."

"If he wanted her dead he would've done it when dropped off the key. Did you forget that Elle is in the hospital because Gideon involved the public? What if he punishes us for bringing Diana here and involving her? What if next time he goes after you, Spencer?" She questions in anger and Spencer smiles slightly.

"You're worried about me."

"I'm worried about everyone, okay? You're not particularly special. Did she tell you anything? Does she know who it is? How did you even get her here? She hates flying and she thinks everyone who works for the government are fascists," she points out.

"She doesn't think we are," he tries but upon Amanda's stern look he sighs. "I had some agents pick her up. She thought she was being arrested."

"This isn't going to be easy, Spence. She won't like being in a government building."

"I know but right now it's our best chance at finding that girl."

Amanda sighs, knowing he's right. "Then we better hurry so we can catch him before he goes after one of us for breaking his rules a second time." He nods and they walk back to Diana. As they lead her to the conference room, Diana tells Amy all about how the fascists arrested her and brought her here on a dreaded airplane at Spencer's orders. Amanda shares an amused look with Spencer and if there wasn't a little girl's life at stake, it would almost feel like they were teenagers again spending Thanksgiving in Las Vegas.

As they get to the conference room, Spencer begins to explain things to his mom who walks over to the evidence board. She grabs the bag with the key off and Amanda quickly takes it from her and shoves it into the pocket of her shorts, knowing that Spencer will get frustrated as he's nervous from not seeing his mom in a while, something Amanda knows because she still spends Thanksgiving in Las Vegas with Diana whenever she can.

Diana agrees to listen to the video the 'Fisher King' left, despite claiming that she wouldn't know anyone like what Spencer had described and as soon as she hears the voice, both agents see her face change. Amanda quickly shuts it off and faces Diana. "Do you know who it is, Diana?"

"I'm almost sure that it's Randall Garner." Amanda attempts to stifle her laugh, knowing that she is simply delirious having been up for more than 24 hours but also thinking it's unfortunate that he shares a name with the villain from Monsters Inc. Reid is about to ask her about it when Garcia rushes in saying that she got a hit on the hacker and that his name is Randall Garner.

Reid quickly alerts the rest of the team and the three of them, plus Diana, await the rest of the team while Diana recalls her encounters with Randall. "I never thought Rebecca was real," she whispers after Spencer mentions her being a grail.
