The two siblings exit Hotch's office at the same time Rossi exits his. "Is Lynch here?" He asks and they both shrug so he follows them to the hallway where they see a slightly heavy-set man with greasy hair walking towards them.
"Kevin Lynch?" Hotch questions and he nods as the three agents lead him to Garcia's office. The second he's inside, the technical analyst is immediately in awe of Garcia's computer system and Amanda rolls her eyes.
"Look, I know it's cool and everything but our friend just got shot and we're trying to find her attempted murderer before he finds out he missed and comes back to finish the job so if you can do what you're here to do, that would be great," she tells him and he clears his throat awkwardly.
"Right, sorry." He sits down and gets into the system and they have him start looking for anyone that was in law school and failed out, applied and didn't make it, and have the initials JCB. "Do you know how many names are going to be on that list?" He asks but upon seeing Rossi's look, he shuts up and does what they ask but comes up with nothing. Hotch then tells him to see if he can find anything that might make her a target.
Kevin isn't listening however because he's too busy looking deeper into her computer to see what he can find. "Are you listening?" Rossi scolds and Kevin clears his throat again.
"Sorry but this might just be the coolest girl ever."
"You haven't even met her yet."
"Yeah but her GUI is amazing." He turns to the three agents that if he's being honest are actually really scary and turns back to the computer when he finds an encrypted file. "Uh oh," he says before typing in a password.
"What?" Hotch asks and Keven tells him, making Hotch angry as he turns to storm out, only to be stopped by his sister.
"Relax, Aaron. It isn't anything bad. It's all of our personal information. She encrypted it for extra protection so what happened to Elle wouldn't happen again."
"How can you be sure?" He demands and she rolls her eyes before walking over to the computer.
"Excuse me," she tells Lynch who shakes his head as though to clear it, distracted by her looks as he finally took them in. "She told me the password, dumbass. It's Gilman Street." She types the word in as the three men watch and just like she said, the file opens and reveals all the teams' names followed by their phone numbers and addresses. "Trust me, if Garcia did anything to make this guy go after her on purpose, she didn't know about it. She's cautious. You forget that she used to be a professional hacker, Aaron. When you don't have someone to protect you when you do something stupid, you learn to watch your back. That's not something you just forget."
He nods and turns to Lynch. "Find anything you can that might lead back to some kind of lawyer or law student. He has knowledge of it but not enough to actually have completed law school."
"The initials might not be his. He might have a roommate with monogrammed shirts and stole one. He was smart enough to use a gun that didn't leave casings and his aim was almost perfect." As she says this, a thought occurs to her but she keeps it to herself for the time being and continues. "When I was in college, there was this girl in my sorority that had to have her name or initials on everything. She even got our towels monogrammed."
"But monogrammed items are expensive. Why would someone with those kinds of means live with someone else?" Rossi questions as they begin to leave.
"Garcia said he was wearing a fake Rolex, right?" She asks Aaron who had gotten the details of the cognitive interview from Morgan and filled her in as they left his office. He nods and she continues. "I have the means to get monogrammed stuff, I don't because I think it's a waste of money, no offense Dave, but if one of my friends, even one from college, showed up at my door and told me they had nowhere to go, I would help them out in heartbeat. He may just be helping a friend, not realizing that friend is a murderer."
