"He wasn't moving, okay, and he was not breathing," Aria pointed out. After assuring their parents that they were okay—or in Brooklyn's case, her brother—the girls grouped back together behind the yellow police tape.

"Because he was dead," Emily stated.

"Is dead," Spencer corrected. "Not was, is."

"So unless were saying Ian's a zombie, someone moved the body."

"It was probably stuffed in the trunk of 𝗔's car," Hanna spoke in disgust.

"It's probably on its way to a meat grinder," Emily commented, earning looks from the others.

Aria scrunched her face up in disgust and discomfort. "Oh, Em, come on, you gotta quit watching those horror films."

"You guys, 𝗔's probably watching us right now," Spencer whispered.

"Any one of these people could be 𝗔," Emily spoke as she looked around the crowd of people.

"Half the town is here," Hanna pointed out.

"They want to see you girls down at the station. I'm here to drive you," an officer informed.

"Uh, well, I saw my parents earlier. They're going to want to know where we're going," Aria said wearily.

"They'll meet us there. Come on. Let's go."

"I'm gonna head home," Brooklyn muttered.

The officer stopped her. "I can't let you do that."

"Why not? I didn't even know the guy."

"Maybe not but you were still at the scene and they'd still like to see you." Brooklyn groaned but followed him, not ignoring the looks she and the other girls were getting as they climbed into the squad car.

"Hey, I thought we were going to the police station," Hanna spoke from the front seat as the officer made a right turn into an alley rather than continuing straight.

"Why are we stopping?" Spencer questioned.

"Garrett—" Emily started.

The officer—Garrett—cut her off. "Let's go."

"No, I'm not going anywhere," Hanna argued.

"Get out of the car." The look on his face told the girls that he meant business. Sharing a cautious with one another, the girls slowly exited the car. "It's not safe to talk in the car."

"It doesn't really feel safe out here, either."

"Look, I'm sorry if I scared you, but there's some things you guys need to know before you start answering questions."

"We're listening," Spencer agreed.

"All right, the police cannot know that you were blackmailing Ian, and that I was helping you. It's a serious crime."

"Well, what about the messenger?" Aria wondered. Brooklyn, who had no idea what they were talking about, stood behind the girls as they spoke with the officer.

"He doesn't want any trouble."

"And the money?" Hanna asked.

"For now, I'm hiding it."

Spencer seemed hesitant to ask her next question, but she spoke anyway. "What about the videos?"

"You still have them?" the officer asked. The girls shared a look, silently having a conversation with their eyes about whether or not to be honest with the man in front of them.
