"Hey." Brooklyn looked to her side to see Spencer walking toward her after closing her locker.

Brooklyn waved at the tall girl. "Hi."

"How's it going?"

"Pretty good except for the part where I forgot to do my homework."

Spencer winced. "Yikes. I'm sure Hanna 'forgot' to do hers, too, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind doing homework together."

"I can't guarantee that I'll be doing mine, so..." Brooklyn trailed off, earning a laugh from Spencer.

"I wonder what your grades look like," Spencer joked.

"That makes two of us."

"Do you want to sit with me and my friends?"

Brooklyn nervously bit the inside of her cheek. "I dunno..." The last time Brooklyn was invited to sit with a girl and her group of her friends, she became one of the popular girls that brought others down just because they were at the top of the social food chain, and she didn't want to be apart of something like that ever again. Now, she couldn't say that Spencer and her friends were anything like that, but she also couldn't say that they weren't.

"We just..." Spencer started, "wanted to make you feel welcomed here. We all know what it's like to drown in a sea of people because we had no one to rely on, but we were lucky enough to get reeled in by someone that brought us together as friends and as sisters."

"Quite the metaphor, Spencer," Brooklyn said with slightly widened eyes. "You're a weird girl. Y'know, you don't seem like the kind of person to just invite someone into your friend group with open arms."

Spencer shrugged. "Just trying to get to know you. Plus, something about you just seems to fit with our brand." The way Spencer finished her sentence led Brooklyn to believe that she seemed unsure of her own wording.

"Your 'brand'? And what would that be?"

"Loyal and trustworthy with a secret or two."

Brooklyn smirked as she tilted her head. "We've all got our secrets, Spencer."

"That we do," Spencer agreed with a nod and a smile on her face. The two made there way inside, joining Emily at a table. "Em, this is Brooklyn, the new girl. Brooklyn, this is Emily, the best swimmer on the schools swim team." The two girls knew one another by name but they'd yet to be formerly introduced.

"It's nice to meet you," Emily smiled.

"You too. I'm gonna go get an apple or something." As Brooklyn stood in the breakfast line, she could hear a pair of guys talking loudly about their recent sexual encounters with girls that they'd recently met and Brooklyn found it disgusting. "Hey, pigs one and two. Do us all a favor and quiet down. No one wants to hear about your sex lives."

One of the guys leaned back so that he could see Brooklyn's face which held an annoyed look on it. "Jealous?" The dark haired, blue eyed boy smirked.

"Of that poor girl that made the mistake of sleeping with you?" Brooklyn asked sarcastically. "Very much so."

The boy scoffed. "I see why you hang out with Alison's old clique, you're just like them. Fair warning though, those four are nothing but trouble."

"I'll keep that in mind," Brooklyn nodded with narrowed eyes before walking away from the line. In all honesty, she wasn't hungry in the first place, but she just wanted to say that she ate something.
