five - part one

Spinning again on my heel, I walked over to one of the corners in my room and sat down. Obviously, just touching the hair pin wouldn't do the trick because I wasn't in a trance already, which was what normally happened whenever I experienced someone else's' emotions. So, there had to be another step I was missing.

Shoot, maybe I was missing all of the steps and not doing any of this correctly.

Maybe all I had to do was concentrate or something, even though I honestly thought it was all pointless.

Sitting cross legged, I placed the hair pin directly in the middle of my palms and concentrated on my mother.

Mentally, I tried to put myself in a different box. I felt like I needed to separate myself from everything that was tying me down to this world, this exact moment of time.

Her face.. The way her perfectly wavy red hair cuffed her heart shaped face.

Her touch.. The feeling of velvet as she caressed the side of my face with the back of her hand my last night home.

Her voice.. The only thing that could calm me down in a split second..

Her love.. The only thing I knew that could fully cover and protect me from this cold world.

We might not get along all the time, but she was still my best friend.

I took everything I remembered about my mother, everything I loved and I tried to transform it into energy. I felt like if I could distinguish her energy from everyone else's', then I would be able to locate her.

I had no idea what I was really doing, but I knew figuring out what her energy felt like was step one.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and tried to tap into the energy locked into to the hairpin.

I could feel something caressing my mind every time I focused on her qualities. But, as soon as I would reach out towards it, it would flit away. If only if I could grasp it..

I had no idea what that would do but.. I figured this was the only way.

Taking a deep breath, I pictured my mothers' energy and threw myself at it.

"Show me my mother!" I screamed, not caring if anyone passing my room heard me or not.

I didn't know who I was talking to, but I had a feeling this was what I was supposed to do.

As soon as the words tumbled out of my mouth, the air around me became unbreathable.

I felt like I was suffocating.

    Literally.

As the last word was leaving my mouth, I watched as a hole that was a little bigger than a sewage manhole, open up right in front of me..

Staring at it with an open mouth, I reached out to touch it.

Was this something that could take me to my mother? Like a portal or something? Or was it like a long distance projector of sorts?

Just as my fingers were brushing border, I felt an intense shock. It felt like it had enough shockiness to stop my heart. Before I could pull my hand away, the air around me sucked me into the hole and spat me out on cold cement.

Blinking a couple times, I tried to gather my surroundings before standing up. I was dizzy and I felt a wave of nausea crash into me. Using a tiny bit of the energy I had, I sat myself up.
