I must've looked puzzled or something because he proceeded to go a little more in depth, which I was grateful for. What the heck were Crescents? He had barely explained what they were during his story. All he had said was that they were soldiers.

    Anddddd if that's the case, why am I here? I might get into trouble from time to time, I might throw a punch here and there but that was because I wanted to.

    Not because I was some soldier.

    I almost choked on the air going into my mouth.

    Did this mean my mother was a Crescent? I mean, according to the Chancellor this school was only for Crescents.. So, she had to be.. but why did she hide that from me?

    Was my mother really some sort of bad ass?

    I wanted to see her in that light, but all I could see was how she intentionally choose to never tell me this.

    She choose to leave me unprepared.

    Almost as if the Chancellor knew I was fighting an internal battle, he waited a few extra seconds before carrying on.

    "Crescents are a race of people, like a said earlier. We are separate from humans because we are direct descendants from Ambrogio and Selene. Many come here in search of refuge, training, knowledge, etc. But, even more, Selene Academy is a school for.. different people. Different than what you are quite used to." He paused and looked lost for words, as if he were trying to debate how best to phrase whatever he was about to say.

    Honestly, I wondered what he was about to say.

    What could he say? Different people like what? I thought back to Lyonna and her pausing, and my own.. emotional tapping. what did it all mean?

    But, forget allat! I still had so many questions about what a Crescent really was. It sounded like he really believed we weren't human and I didn't know how I felt about that. That was kind of a lot to drop on one person without following it up with a detailed explanation... and a drink.

    "To be somewhat blunt, the students of this school all posses certain abilities. Some have the same ability, some have other ones. All specialize in one thing though, and that's guardianship. Selene Academy may be many things, but above all it is a school for Guardians and Trainers.

    Anywho, let me back up a bit. What kind of abilities you may be wondering. Well, there are quite a few. For instance there are the Affinity, or Affinist. They are gifted with the ability to control the elements. That includes air, earth, fire and water. They can bend the elements to their will.

    There are also the Enertics. They specialize in the use of energy. They can do.. hmm.. it's probably more known to you as magic and by the definition of magic, it is. But, it is also so much more. It's a lot of science but basically they can make things appear and disappear, clone items, 'power up', amongst other things." He leaned back and got a little more comfortable, as though we were having a casual conversation.

    Meanwhile, my mind was spinning so much I thought I was going to throw up.

    "Lastly," He started "We have the Omniceys. They can tell the future to some extent and have the ability to recall and absorb ridiculous amounts of information. Because of that they are extremely smart and lying to them is pointless. Can you guess which one I am?" He asked seeming somewhat curious.

    It seemed obvious to me that he was probably Omni- whatever. I mean, he was the Head of the school right? It might not be in the job description, but it was definitely likely that it was between the lines.
