The Raven's Nightmare

CHAPTER EIGHT

Dream paced around the Tree of Feelings in worry; his brother hasn't come back yet from his patrol of the forest. Did the person who tried to take from the tree somehow... hurt Nightmare? Panic started to set in the peppy Guardian's SOUL as images of his brother somewhere hurt and unable to call for help swarmed his skull. Dream was about to go and search for him until a familiar voice called out, "Dream!"

    Upon hearing the voice he's been craving to hear, the said skeleton swiftly turned on his heel and yelled out in relief "𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗲!" Running down the hill, Dream tackled his brother in a hug while crying out, "𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂?! 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂!" Nightmare let out a nervous laugh as he scratched the back of his neck, "Yeah... I was hurt, but!" He quickly added on before Dream could say anything, "But I was helped by some really nice people! So I'm ok now!"

     Giving a look of confusion, the Guardian of Positivity questioned "𝗢𝗵? 𝗪𝗵𝗼?"

    Tensing at the question, the skeleton in question struggled for an answer; he still doesn't want his brother to know about Raven and her family.

    "Just some people that were taking their morning walk. They found me unconscious by a tree where I was ambushed by that thief. Only a small head wound, I was lucky one of them was a healer."

     Staring at his brother for a moment longer, Dream finally gave a bright smile before exclaiming "𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝗜'𝗺 𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗱, 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿! 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁!" Giving a small smile in return, Nightmare gave a yawn "I'm going to take a quick nap. You can go and hang out with your friends if you want..." The cheerful Guardian watched his brother jump on his usual branch on the darkest part of the tree as he thought out loud, "𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹... 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗶𝗱 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘁... 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗲! 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲?"

    The Guardian of Negativity almost fell off his branch upon hearing this as an odd feeling of possessiveness washed over him, "Why?"

    Flinching from the sudden change of behavior from his brother, Dream wrung his hands in nervousness as he stuttered "𝗜-𝗜 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄-𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁-𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸-𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗲𝗿! 𝗜 𝗮-𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘄𝘆𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗵-𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗺𝗴 𝗮-𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗮-𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁-𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝗰-𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗳-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱!"

    Narrowing his eyes from his spot on his branch, Nightmare carefully chose his words as to not offend his brother "She is usually very shy and doesn't like to be around strangers that much."

    "𝗕𝘂𝘁..𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂?"

    Jumping down to his brother and storming in his direction, the angered Guardian snarled "What is that supposed to mean?!"
