I just feel inspired.
It was a cold winter a day when she finally went to his house for dinner. He lived with his brother, not his parents or grandparents or even an aunt or uncle. She lived in a large house with her wealthy parents but often got lost in her house because she was exploring the long forgotten halls. She remembered clearly one day opening a door with a rusty doorknob to find a room still full of trash and dishes and an unmade bed. She just shut the door and continued further down the darkened hallway. His house was small, with few rooms to spare. She arrived at his door and rang the doorbell until the door was opened. She was escorted inside by him soon afterwords. She heard the sound of boiling water and smelled the thick scent of tomato sauce that wafted through the air. It smelled like he was an excellent chef.
She entered the living room with him took off her coat, handing it to him to put on one of the two coat hangers. She sat on the couch, which had just enough room for two people to sit. He left to go work in the kitchen, leaving her alone to examine her surroundings. Everything he owned seemed just enough for two people. He soon invited her into the kitchen just in time for her to see him drape pasta sauce all over her spaghetti. He handed it two her with a smile and led her to the dining table, which had just enough space for two people. She sat after he pulled a chair out for her and began to eat, but he left the room. She asked where he was going and he just said that he would be right back. As promised, he arrived back with a spoon for himself and a plastic container filled with food. It looked like a soup of some sort. He gently set the soup down and sat down across from her. He began to eat.
"What are you eating?" She asked, even though it was obvious.
"Leftovers, I always do." He responded.
"Why do you always eat leftovers?""Because things are often left behind to rot. Whether it be a house after a tornado, a forgotten room, an orphan or leftover food. And I am here to make sure that nothing gets left behind again."
