"It was about time, congrats guys!" Marshall told the two. Chase had finally gotten the courage to confess to Skye and ask her to be his mate. The cockapoo obviously agreed, and they had just gotten back from their date and told everyone about their long-awaited relationship with each other. Everyone, including Ryder, had known about their crushes on each other forever now, so this was something they were dying to hear.
"You pups are growing up so fast. I'm proud of you two, I really am." Proclaimed Ryder. Chase smiled at his owner's appraisal. Now that he had his new mate, he remembered something. The German Shepherd turned to his brother and smiled teasingly.
"Well, looks like your up next, huh buddy?" He asked. The Dalmatian began to blush, knowing what he meant by that. A while back, Marshall had told Chase about his feelings for their husky friend, Everest.
Unfortunately, Chase's statement didn't go completely unnoticed. "What's that supposed to mean, got a crush Marshall?" His owner questioned, wearing a similar smile to the one as Chase.
This just made him blush even more, worried about his most embarrassing secret getting out to the others. "W-What? No, of c-course I don't." He stuttered.
"Hehehe, you sure a certain husky doesn't come to mind?" Ryder asked. Marshall began to feel really nervous. He always thought that he had done at least a decent job at hiding his feelings. But if his friends knew, that meant that there was a chance that Everest knew, which would be even more embarrassing.
Realizing that Chase might have something to do with this, Marshall shot a glare at his brother, who just shrugged with a confused expression. He clearly didn't know that Ryder knew, so at least he didn't say anything. "Uhhhhh nope, no idea what you're talking about" he lied.
"If you say so pup. Oh! By the way, I have some good news." The boy announced. The pups stopped looking at the blushing dally and turned their attention to Ryder. "You see, Jake is going on a two-month vacation to visit his family. That means until he's back, Everest will be living at the lookout with the rest of us!" He announced.
Completely forgetting the conversation they just had, Marshall jumped up in excitement, his tail wagging. "She's staying here for two whole months?! YES!" he yelped, clearly happy. That happiness was quickly replaced with embarrassment though, as he noticed Ryder smirking at him.
"Uhhhh, I-I mean, well, t-thats cool, I gue-" The Dally attempted to say, only to be interrupted by his owner. Unfortunately, his chance to make up some sort of an excuse was put on hold.
"Haha, don't worry pup, I'm just messing with you. However, you should tell her, I'm sure she would feel the same way." He reassured. He wasn't just saying that either. He always kind of knew about the dally's crush, and he was almost positive that Everest returned his feelings.
There was a bit of awkward silence before Marshall finally replied. "It was that obvious huh?" He asked, still slightly embarrassed. He knew that eventually, he would've had to tell the others, but this wasn't how he had imagined doing it.
Being the first of the pups to say anything, Zuma spoke up. "Yeah, we kind of all knew you had a cwush on hew. But don't wowwy dude, we won't say anything, wight guys?" The rest of the pups nodded in agreement.
Marshall smiled and thanked, then turned back to Ryder. "When will she be here anyway?" He questioned, hoping he was masking his excitement. He rarely got to see Everest these days, and now she would be staying with him for two whole months. It almost seemed like a dream come true.
"She should be here any minute now actually, Jake said she'd be here just about now." Ryder answered, pretending to not see Marshall's dreamy expression.
