Everest had one single mission on her mind, and that was to give Marshall a fun and stress-free day. Nothing but enjoying her company. She would make sure her first full day back was as good as it could be, knowing he probably hadn't enjoyed a day in the last three months.
Of course, she knew no matter what she did, a full day of happiness for him was impossible. He wasn't just going to be fine within a day of her being back. However, she would at least try to make him happy, even if she knew deep down it wouldn't last for very long.
The two were pulling into Jake's cabin, which although it was true that Everest wanted to see him, she mainly did this for Marshall. Just like she did, the dally loved the snow, and they'd often come up here to hang out in the cold weather.
"Hey guys! What's up?" Jake called out as he saw the couple pulling into his cabin. Everest ran out of her snowcat and went to her old owner in excitement, with Marshall running directly behind her.
"Hey Jake. Marshy and I wanted to come up here and spend the day. That's fine, right?" She asked, starting to realize she had never asked ahead of time. Luckily, Jake was even here, and not out doing mountain work.
"Yeah, sure dudes. What do you wanna do?" Jake responded. Everest turned her eyes back to Marshall, waiting for an answer. The dally looked at her confused for a moment before realizing she was trying to ask him for an opinion.
"I don't know. What do you wanna do Eve?" He asked. The husky only shrugged in response, not exactly having an answer herself. She hadn't really thought about what she wanted to do, she just knew she wanted to do something fun for Marshall.
"Well, if you don't have any ideas, we could just go on a hike." Jake offered, knowing both pups always enjoyed those. It wasn't uncommon that they would drive up to the mountain to go on walks with each other.
"That sounds like fun, right Marshy?" Everest asked. Marshall smiled and gave her a slight nod, although he didn't really care what they did. As long as he wasn't separated from Everest, he'd do it.
The three, as they agreed, went on a hike, enjoying each other's company, especially the newly reunited couple. As they walked, they all simply talked with each other, which after being separated for so long and, that alone seemed like a dream come true.
"So, when can we meet, uh, Haley was her name right?" The dally guessed, still eager to meet the one who saved his mate's life. The husky gave him a small nod, confirming what he had said.
"Yeah, that's her name. She just said to call her, and she gave me her number. You guys can probably meet her next time she drives through here, although I don't know when that'll be. I can ask her at some point." Everest explained.
"Cool. She sounds nice." The dally replied. Of course, that was a bit of an understatement for him after all she had indirectly done for him. To him, she was a savior, for both his and Everest's life.
"I agree with you, after all, she saved Everest." Jake added as he gave her a pat on the head, which caused her to nuzzle his hand in affection.
A few moments of silence passed before Marshall spoke up. "Do we need to pay her?" He asked, making the husky smile a bit at his innocent question.
"Nah, she's a rescuer, like us. If she had expected something she probably would've told me by now. Plus, she just doesn't seem like the type to do that." She answered.
"I know, but I feel like we owe her something. She saved you, Eve. She's why you're still here with me. She's....she's the only reason I feel happy right now." He exclaimed. Everest sighed and licked him to cheer him up.
