"Can we go now, Ryder?" Everest asked excitedly. Both she and Marshall had already gotten ready, and now it was dark. To say the two were happy about the night they had planned would've been an understatement. She could clearly see that the dally was happier than he had been in a while.

"Of course you can, don't let me stop you. Just remember, be back by ten at the latest. You two go and have your fun, you've earned it." The boy answered. The couple looked at each other with huge smiles on their faces.

"Yes! Come on, let's go, Eve!" Marshall exclaimed, wrapping an arm around his mate out of both affection and excitement. Everest couldn't help but giggle at him. Despite having passed the stage in his life a long time ago, his mood seemed to be that of a pup on Christmas morning, which was something she was beyond happy to see. Even if it was only for this current moment, she could see the old Marshall shining through.

"Hehe, alright Marshy, let's go." She responded. The dally removed his arm and the two started for the exit. On the way out, however, he accidentally tripped over the air and crashed into something. Or, someone.

"Hey! Watch it, you klutz!" Sweetie barked as she roughly stood back up. Due to her harsh reaction, Marshall whimpered slightly and got noticeably closer to Everest. The husky shot a death glare at the terrier but didn't push anymore. She had more important things to deal with.

"Don't listen to her, you're not a klutz, Marshy." She cooed, quickly wrapping her arms around the dally to keep him from getting too stressed out. Luckily, he didn't. The terrier simply rolled her eyes and walked away, which didn't bother either of them. If anything, they were glad she was out of their fur for now.

"A-alright, thanks, Eve." Marshall replied. Everest let out a small sigh of relief. If Sweetie had done anything more, the situation could've been a lot harder to solve. The dally was already a sensitive one, but now that he was forced to carry the weight of his trauma, he was very emotionally vulnerable.

"Of course, I don't know what she's thinking. Now, forget about Sweetie, and let's go have our date night." The husky replied, trying to change the subject. Thankfully, he was completely on board with that idea and the two ran outside.

And just as they had heard, the town of Barkingburg was beautiful. Almost all the shops and restaurants had decorative lights outside, creating an atmosphere the two had never experienced.

Everest looked at Marshall to see a huge smile plastered on his face, and his tail was wagging quickly. He hadn't looked that happy ever since she had gotten back, and she knew it had hurt for him even more before so. Of course, she was glad to see this small change in emotion, but she was aware it wouldn't last forever. Not to mention the worrying itch in the back of her mind.

The feeling that something bad was going to happen to him wouldn't leave. The husky she knew Marshall was hurting and was in a very vulnerable position, still being extremely traumatized and tormented by his brain. Anything bad that happened could easily have large consequences. But, for this night only, she'd let that go. Tonight was the one chance they had to spend some good, quality time with each other.

"What do you wanna do first?" Everest asked. The dally opened his mouth to respond, but quickly realized he had no answer. What did he want to do? This was the first time he had been on a date with his mate in such a long time, and there were lots of options to choose from. However, the rumbling in his stomach made up his mind.

"Uh, well I'm pretty hungry, so I guess we could go to a restaurant and get some dinner. O-or, if you'd rather do something else, that's fine too. I just want to stay with you." The dally answered. Everest smiled at him and licked his face in reassurance.
