"Wake up, sweetheart" I hear a soft voice say, belonging to my mother.

I whine and snuggle further in my soft and comfy bed.

Why is she waking me up so early on a sunday? I need my beauty sleep.

I hear a sigh. "Your father and I have big news for you, honey,'' my mother says. "Go freshen up, we will be waiting for you in the kitchen.''

I hear my bedroom door open and then close.

I slowly scramble out of bed, almost falling in the process. I go into my bathroom and brush my teeth and then my hair.

I decided to stay in my pink silk pajamas since I'll probably go back to bed after my parents announce these oh-so special news.

I walk into the kitchen and see both my parents seated, talking in hushed tones.

I clear my throat to make my presence known.

They immediately stop talking and turn to face me.

My dad decides to break the ice first. "Good Morning sweety, come here we need to tell you something important.''

I slowly go to my seat directly in front of them.

My mom then decides to announce the big news. '"So, ugh- you have been homeschooled your whole life. Tomorrow is going to be your first day of junior year.'' I nod my head nervously. Where are they going with this?

''Your dad and I have come to the decision, with your approval of course, that you should attend, starting from tomorrow, real life school. What do you say?''

I'm frozen in place. Me? In real life school? With real life teachers, not robots?

To be honest I'm not sure why I have never been to school, it's just kind of always been that way and I've never questioned them.

Of course I've always wanted to go to school. It wasn't rare that I would find myself daydreaming about having normal teenage experiences.

Heck, I'm 17 and still haven't had my first kiss.

When I go to the beach to surf I tend to get distracted by hot boys.

I'm long due on that kiss.

I see my parents giving each other weird glances. I must have been so excited that I zoned out. "Yes!'' I scream. "I-I mean y-yes, I would love to go to public school'' I blush.

My mom burst out crying. "My little baby is going to go to school'' I see my dad smiling at me.

"We are happy for you June. We should have put you in school ages ago.''

I smile and respond with a quiet thank you.

''Honey go get dressed we are  going school shopping. Oh- we're going to buy so many cute dresses so you can impress all the boys at school''

I hear my dad grumble and leave the kitchen. My mom and I looked at eachother and we both burst out laughing.

My mom and I both spent the rest of the day shopping for school supplies and buying cute outfits.

I go to sleep that night dreaming of all the things I will be able to do now that I'll go to school.

Hopefully I'll make friends easily.

Who knows maybe even a boyfriend.

---------

Today's the day. I walk over to my closet and pick out an outfit. It consists of a black summer dress. I decided to pair it with a seashell necklace.

Once I'm satisfied with it, I head out of my room and down the stairs. ''Good Morning, honey. Excited for your first day of school?'' My dad greets me.

I smile and go give him a bone crushing hug. ''Oh yes, I'm so excited!'' I squeal.

My mom enters the kitchen all dressed up as well. ''Good Morning, honey. We should get going soon. Hurry up and eat your breakfast.''

My mom hands me a plate of fresh fruit.

Once i'm finished eating, I grab my bag and head out the door, following my mom to the car.

After about a 10 minutes ride, we stopped in front of a huge building. We park and my mom turns to me.

''Welcome to Roosevelt high school honey.''
