Welcome to Biproducts!
This is one of my passion projects that I've been working on alongside my other OC series S&T (don't expect anything of that series on here besides the T.O.T.P One-shot stories) and I'm SO glad to finally share it publicly like this!!!
The chapter you're reading right now isn't part of the story, but its more or less to learn about this fic and its main cast of characters. I'll also add info such as the "schedule" of chapters being posted, how to look out for content warnings in chapters, and also bonus content that will be in-between the story. Anyways, enough of the chatter, let's learn about the history of Biproducts!
History
Biproducts wasn't always dubbed by that title. Waaaayyyy back in like 2013-2014, there was only 2 characters to the story; They being Emerald and Diamond. They were basic cookie-cutter characters with no personality (cause I was like, 8) so around 2015-2017 they got a rehaul, with Diamond being obviously scrapped for Canon reasons, and Star Ruby becoming a permanent Gemsona. The team was now Emerald, Star Ruby, and a friends Gemsona who I probably won't name for personal reasons.. This group was called the Minerals (creative I know)
Around 2017-2018 I also created a side cast known as..something I forgot.. This will have 2 of the main 3 present day cast, Bixbite and Star Sapphire. And thus 2019 hit I decided to group my 3 favorite Gemsonas together for a main group and thus Biproducts finally breathed air September 2019. I'll proceed to develop the final story for a whole year until now.
And if you're pondering why they're called the Biproducts, its because I watched "On the Run" and got interested in the word byproduct when Pearl explained that Amethyst was the byproduct of a big mistake. And one typo later we got our title.
The Main Cast
Our main cast for the earlier chapters will consist of 3 unique Gems. A Bixbite, a Star Sapphire and a Star Ruby. We will quickly address these characters so you can get used to their personalities and know them a bit before the story begins!
Bixbite: Bixbite is a Bold and Brash Gem who was defective from formation as when he was being formed, his Gem was placed where the iconic Bixbite claw would've been, stunting the growth and leaving a nub shoulder with the gem in the center of the stub. He is a journalist in his past time. He notes everything down, and is a very "Lawful Neutral" type of guy due to his change of duty on Homeworld. In the story, he will play as the strict parental like leader figure, guiding his friend Star Sapphire along and trying not to get annoyed by Star Ruby's feral attitude.
Star Sapphire: Star Sapphire (or called Star by Bixbite) is an extremely rare but also extremely defective Gem. Star Sapphires, or Star Gems in general, are like a one in a million chance to form instead of a normal variant. One Gem got greedy however and tried to illegally form Star Sapphire for her own usage, but of course, this experiment flawed Star Sapphire, causing her to have 2 eyes instead of one, and this caused her to be blind altogether. Luckily Bixbite is her caretaker and with Era3, she can finally be seen publicly after being in hiding for over 6000 years. In the story, she will basically act like the character Toph from the "Avatar the Last Airbender" series. She will be a chaotic Gem with sarcastic mannerisms and of course, tons of ways to remind people of her lack of vision.
Star Ruby: I bet you were waiting for an edge lord weren't you? Star Ruby is also a rare Gem to be alive, but her life wasn't as easy as Star Sapphire's... I would love to go into detail, but sorry to burst your Gem Bubble but thats gonna spoil too much!!! You're gonna have to read the story to learn her tragic tale! But if you are needing a personality summary, I'll give you one cause you are so far into the Author Note now.. In the story, Star Ruby will act almost like a feral beast. She is 100% chaotic evil and without a doubt I can say she can and will walk on all 4s in the story at least twice. I'm sure you'll like her character when she's introduced ;)
Other Characters: I can't say too much on the side characters we will meet in this story, but I CAN say a few things such as they will be both different but at the same time fitting to the "Biproducts" name. Characters like, per say, a Gem who studies Corruptions for her career, a Gem who adores perfection in a gems physical form, and also I can 100% confirm that there will be love interests~
But thats it for the cast intros! Now to explain miscellaneous stuff to wrap up the Author Note!
