Gem and I

Chapter 6- Dinner Time

I put on my outfit and drove to the bosses house.

*Outfit ripped sweater with jeans*

I arrive at the house and knock on the door to be greeted by a tight hug.

"Hello Zanna!" Cherry greeted

(Cherry is Jericho's (the boss) wifey)

"Hey, it's nice to see you." I smile.

"Diana doesn't know your here were making it a surprise!"

"Okay."

I quietly sneaked into the living room where Diana was playing with her toys.

"Papa! Is dinner almost ready?"

"Yes precious." He smiles

"Papa I miss ZaZa." She frowns

"But I'm right here." I say.

Her face lights up with a huge smile "ZAZA!!!"

"Hey!!!" I smile picking her up!

"I've missed you!!! You've been gone so long!"

"Sorry princess. I got into some trouble and had to go away for awhile."

"Zaza always in trouble." She pouts

"Yeah I know. But I'm back now. So let's get some food in your tummy."

"Yay! Papa making tacos."

I carry her into the kitchen with me:

"You need some help?" I ask cherry.

"No. But can you help Diana set up her table?"

"Yeah! It's Scooby doo!" She says, hoping out my arms.

"Alright."

I set up her table and get her little chair.

"There you go."

"Thank you!" She says sitting.

I give a nod and a smile.

"Alright. Tacos are done!" Cherry announces

"Wait? Is it my favorite?" I ask wide-eyed.

"Yes! Birria tacos." She says handing me Diana's plate

I give ana her food tucking a napkin into her shirt.

I set up the rest of our plates sitting at the end of the table.

"So how have you been Z?"

"Good. We got a new mission so I'm excited about that."

"Have you been dating anyone?"

"No." I question

"Anybody piqued your interest?"

"Does everybody think I need a boyfriend?"

"Yes!" Jericho, Cherry and Diana respond.

"Damn!"I chuckle.

"Zaza needs a strong boy to protect her." Diana says.

"It would be nice to have a son-in-law."

"Cherry! Please!" I put my head down embarrassed.

"Come on! When will there be little you's running around. You haven't even brung a boy over here."

"You'll scare them away."I remark

I look at the boss" You just had to snitch. Now I'm over here getting jumped." I say biting into a taco.

"Do you even go on dates anymore?" The boss ask

"No."

"Is it that you want a girlfriend instead?" Cherry questions

"No thanks. Last time that didn't end well."

I start to play with my food this subject making me uncomfortable. But only because I know they're right I haven't been in a relationship in awhile. Even then I was a pleaser but never got pleased. Putting my heart back out there is something I'm not sure I wanna do. But I don't wanna be alone.

"We just don't want you to end up alone Marzanna."

"I know. But enough about me. How's everyone been?"

The subject changes to something lighter and laughter is eventually heard throughout the home.

Marzanna eventually leaves after receiving hugs and a big container of leftovers.

Driving home to her apartment where only the tv waited for her.
