NOTE
hi lol so this is embarrassing that i'm writing this but it's 5am and i can't sleep enjoy

(ok so I decided to do y/n LMAO)

I anxiously fiddled with my headphones as I sat in the car with my mom. We didn't have the best relationship me and her, so I resorted to listening to music and avoiding the loud silence.

We were on our way to the house she recently bought. It was pretty far from where we last lived. She said she needed to get away, she was always a little off there ever since my dad left us so I didn't really blame her. I also didn't mind moving other than the fact I was leaving my best friend. But technology still made it possible to connect so I wasn't devastated.

After what felt like hours of staring out the window we arrived. The house was big, not just big, huge. I quickly got out of the car to take a look around. The property seemed nice enough. I grabbed my bag and quickly ran through the big wooden door.

Before even checking out the first floor I rushed up the stairs to pick my room. It didn't take long before I decided. The walls were painted blue with a chalkboard on one end. There was some sort of eerie vibe to the room that I was drawn to but the whole house kinda felt that way. I decided to look through the house a little bit more before my mom called me to help with more boxes.

After unloading everything and having too many awkward conversations, I finally got to sort things out in my new room. I grabbed my incense and lit it trying to cleanse out the negative energy, which there obviously was a lot of.

"What are you lighting in here dear?"

Startled I turn around to see an old fragile looking lady dressed in a traditional maids uniform standing in the door frame.

"Um, who are you?"

"Oh I'm sorry, I'm the maid."

"I don't think we hired a maid"

"I come with the house."

Something about the way she said it made me feel like I shouldn't even question it. Still, I was sceptical, maids don't just come with houses.

"Maybe you should go talk to my mom, she's just downstairs right now I think."

"Of course, I hope you enjoy your new home."

and she was down the hall and gone.

I found the encounter odd but continued to unpack my things and brush it off. I really hoped there wouldn't be anymore random unexpected visits, I've never really been the best with people.

After some time I heard my mom calling my name through my headphones. It was around 6:30 so I assumed it was for dinner.

"Hey."

"Come sit down, I've made us some pasta. How do you like the place?"

"I like it. It's different."

She looked at me a bit puzzled but moved on.

"Are you gonna talk to me more now that we're away from everything."

"Moving doesn't fix relationships."

I really didn't want to be having this conversation right now.

"Well at least give me a god damn chance. I want the best for us ok."

"You want the best for you. If you wanted the best for us you would've let me stay in the house I liked with the room I liked and the friends I liked."

She stayed silent the rest of dinner. It was awkward to say the least.

When I was done I rushed up to my room to get ready for bed. I went to the bathroom to set out my things and noticed a razor blade on the sink. Weird. Looking at it my mind took a dark twist but I ignored the thoughts throwing it out and brushing my teeth.

As I laid in bed reading for a couple hours, as there wasn't much else to do I couldn't stop the feeling that there was something not quite right in this house.

Before going to sleep I cleansed my crystals and bed just to be safe, I don't like to sleep with any anxiety anyway.

The next day I woke to the light coming through the window, For a brief second I thought I was home. But I suppose this is home now.

After getting dressed in my light green cardigan and white dress I walked downstairs. It was already 11:30 as I tended to sleep in on weekends. I didn't mind though it's not like I'm really doing anything. Suddenly I heard a knock on the door. Despite the feeling of anxiousness I get talking to strangers I decided to answer the door.

I opened it to a young blonde boy who looked about my age. He was kinda just standing there a bit awkwardly until he started talking.

"Hi I'm Tate."

"Uh hi"

He was kind of attractive and attractive people make me nervous.

"I live nearby and I heard you people just moved in so I wanted to say hi and check out who was here."

"Well, it's just me and my mother."

We stood there for a way too long awkward pause before my brain kicked in.

"I'm so sorry, do you want to come in?"

"Sure haha"

He walked in and quickly glanced around at everything before following me to my room.

"Your probably already thinking about how to leave."

"What do you mean?"

"I guess it's just me who seems to be getting these weird vibes. I just feel like somethings not right with this place."

"Maybes there's a ghost."

He laughed and I joined in.

"You know there really could be though. Spirits can find there way to interact with this reality."

"So you believe in ghosts?"

He seemed genuinely curious, not like he was mocking me or anything.

"Yes, yes I do. Do you?"

"I don't know"

"Well maybe this house will prove them to you" I joked.

He didn't laugh though. Just slightly smiled down at the ground before saying

"It might just."

Suddenly my mom burst through the door. This women couldn't knock if her life depended on it.

"Y/N! A boy in your room, have some decency!"

"He's just a neighbour, I invited him in."

"Well the kitchen next time, or the living room, anything but your bedroom."

Suddenly Tate spoke up.

"It's ok, I was just about to leave anyway, nice to meet you y/n."

"Oh I can walk you to the door, this house is kind of big."

"It's alright I think I will manage."

I gave him a smile and said goodbye.

I was honestly disappointed he had to leave. He seemed nice enough and I didn't really have anyone to talk to here. Hopefully we would become friends.
